So said Arlo White on KJR yesterday. A sold out 67,000 would be a fitting tribute for Keller's last regular season MLS game.
That's a really good number! There were 'only' 46,065 for the NY game in June that was also part of the Man United ticket package. Let's hope it's a meaningful game for the Shield.
If we manage 55,716 against SJ, that would be 38k average for the season. Pretty damn impressive new watermark for attendance. I have to believe that the ownership is seriously considering opening up the 3k hawk's nest next year.
I wonder if the new xbox logo in the center circle during halftime was part of trying to appease Xbox into giving up their prime advert space in the hawks nest.
its at 57k now and latest according to Mayers the entire upper bowl is being opened. But i don't know if hawk's nest will be opened or remained closed.
its a league-wide thing. Notices something similar in NY-LA. just another way to get more revenue from the field. and it dont bother me one bit.
Starfire has been tweeting a code for $10 tickets. It would be awesome to top 60K. 300 level is a nice place to watch the game from. When Barcelona was in town we ended up with top row corner tickets, was a great view if a bit disengaged from the atmosphere below. Oh and here is the tweet with the code & link for the $10 tickets in case you missed it...
This was pulled from the ECS' website. Looks like being 3rd all time is a very real possibliity. I would expect around 61.5K or so. 1996 NY/NJ at Galaxy 69,255 (1st LA Home Game) 2007 Galaxy at NYRB 66,237 (Beckham) 1996 Revs at Galaxy 62,703 (July 4) 2002 Fire at Rapids 61,202 (July 4) 2001 DC at Rapids 60,500 (July 4) 1999 Miami at Galaxy 60,433 (July 4) 2003 KC at Rapids 60,142 (July 4)
No.. Double headers with fireworks. It is the same thing as a double header with bigger clubs though. Most of the people bought tickets to see the fireworks display and not the MLS game. Most don't even show up until the second half and even the ones that do show up for the start of the game sit there with a bored look on their face.
Prost had an interesting article on the ticket sales for this game. http://www.prostamerika.com/2011/10/13/591000-and-counting-50754/
Borrowing numbers from Josh Meyers article... http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/soundersfcblog/2016464947_more_than_57000_tickets_sold_f.html MLS Top 10 Single Game Attendances 69,255: L.A. That would land the game solidly in 3rd all time for MLS regular season ahead of all the double headers, fireworks shows, concerts and other sales gimmicks. Leaving it behind only the first Beckham in NY game and the first NY/LA match.
Highest it can go is 64k. Listening to KJR and Arlo mentioned that the Hawks Nest will be blocked off for the XBox ad.
Any guess as to the estimated gross gate revenue for this single game? What would a good estimate be for a weighted average ticket price? You could then use that X the estimated attendance to get gross, then figure out the split between league and team (I forget the split percentage).
