Williams isn't a CB and Johnson isn't a LB. Our defense would be so bad although it wouldn't be worse than a defense with Fiscal.
Not true both have played each position. granted Williams is more of a DM and Johnson more LM. Of the 2 I would be more interested in seeing Johnson at LB, having a strong attacking left footed back to match Chandler on the right could create a wealth of opportunities
Using the almighty, and always realistic, FIFA 12, I have found our best formation to be the 4-3-2-1. -------------------Howard------------------- Dolo---------Gooch-------Boca-------Chandler --------------------------------------------- Donovan-----------Holden---------------Shea ----------Dempsey-------Feilhaber----------- --------------------Jozy--------------------- Jones can be put in for Holden for more defense. Feilhaber can be switched with Adu or Torres.
Who's Brooks? And not sure about everyone putting in Williams or Johnson as we've seen one game of Williams and none of Johnson. We have no idea how they'll play with the rest of the team and if they're going to replicate their high level play with the Nats.
John Anthony Brooks a talented but young/green CB who has played exactly zero first team minutes at Hertha Berlin yet is apparently starting over Bocanegra, Goodson, Gonzalez, John, Ream, etc. Call me old fashioned, but I happen to believe that a soccer player must at least have their own Wikipedia page before they can be a starter for our national team.

The latest round of new pu**y projection... ...except this one doesn't even get his period yet! He looks pretty and promising, but you never know what puberty will bring.

[LINEUP-4-3-3]Shea, Altidore, Donovan, Bradley (CM), Dempsey (AM), Jones* (CM), Chandler, Bocanegra, Onyewu, Cherundolo, Howard[/LINEUP-4-3-3] *presuming his Schalke comeback continues. I'm not quite sure where Fabian Johnson fits in, he may take Donovan's spot if he continues to play mediocre.

What has he done to "deserve" a shot? Well, clearly if Phil Jones can do it any 19 year old can do it. Mueller won the Golden Boot at 20 years old. Quick, call in all 20 year old forwards.
There are a ton of you that have Holden in the starting XI. I have no idea how you have that being that he's not going to be playing consistent club action most likely until next season. Yes. Next Season. That's when we can judge whether being out a year from football has changed him. In light of that, and who Jurgen has called up: Howard Dolo - Gooch - Boca - Chandler Bradley - JFT/Williams (haven't seen Williams here yet, but would like to, or in Bradley's spot) Donovan - Dempsey - Shea Altidore Fabian Johnson is a wild card here since we haven't seen him. Agudelo is definitely a sub. We need a replacement for Dolo and Boca eventually.
-----------------------Altidore--------------------------- Shea--------------------------------------------Dempsey ------------------------Donovan------------------------- ------ ----- Torres-----------Bradley------------------------- Chandler----------Gooch-----Bocanegra--------Cherundolo -----------------------lHowardl---------------------------- Stealing this from another poster But put Torres in there...Maybe Beckerman in that destroyer role that Klinsmann loves, i dunoooooooooooo. Also, this could change if Eric Lichaj breaks through at Villa when he gets back from his injury, if thats the case, Lichaj to LB, Chandler to RB. Where do Fabian Johnson, and Danny Williams fit in here as well?
I'm not sold on starting Beckerman any longer. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if JK kept calling him up, though. But, again, that brings up the issue of having way too many DMs in one roster. I like your Torres option. Torres has an endurance issue at the international level, though. He's awesome for one half, but his low-endurance catches up with him in the second. He might be a valuable substitution player. I think Donovan is better as a right winger, and Dempsey is better as a second-striker behind Jozy. Lichaj's Gold Cup performance was very good, and I look forward to him healing as soon as possible. Anyways, I like this as a framework for 2014. ------------------------Altidore Shea--------------------------------------------Donovan Chander-----------------------------------------Lichaj ------------------------Howard
If Williams has the distribution skills that I've seen glimpses of, I'm putting him in over Edu or Beckerman or even Torres since Williams seems to be able to pass and defend, which maybe only Holden can really do well on our team, and Jones every other game I guess. Then again, I guess that's why Klinsmann thinks he's a winger.
I hope this was an anomaly due to strange roster selection. Maybe Klinsmann's priority was to bring in players to camp that he wanted to evaluate, rather than select the optimal competitive lineup. Maybe he knows Donovan is a starter at right wing and wanted to see how potential DM/CM candidates stack up against each other in practice.
