Who: Seattle Sounders (WLWww) vs. Philadelphia Union (DWdWd) Where: Century Link Field, Seattle, WA When: 7:00 PM, Saturday, 10/8/2011 Watch: KING5 Listen: KIRO 97.3, La Gran D 99.3FM Internet: Usual suspects As you can tell from the game number in the title, the season is winding down. This is the second to last home game for the Sounders (sadly last for me as I'll be out of town next weekend *grumble*). It is also the last game in the month of hell where the Sounders played every 3-4 days. I'm not sure what the players are going to do with themselves knowing that they have a full week before their next game. The Sounders have clinched a top three spot in the West and are now trying to figure out which spot they will be taking. A win on Saturday and a LA Galaxy loss will get the Sounders within 4 pts of 1st, but a win by the Galaxy will result in the Sounders being eliminated from the SS race. A win by the Sounders and a non-win by RSL locks up 2nd for the Sounders. The Union for their part are in the middle of a fairly heated playoff race. They are currently in 2nd in the East, but trail KC by 1 pt, are tied with Columbus, and are only a point up NYRB and DCU. They do have a game in hand, so a result will serve them well, but a loss won't necessarily hurt them any. Sad news is that Montero is going to be missing this game thanks to yellow card accumulation, Rosales is still questionable and most likely looking at another week of rest, and Fernandez was pulled at halftime from the USOC final due to a minor concussion, so we're looking at a creative line-up up front. On the good news, Riley is back and Wahl isn't suspended, so our defense should be back in full.
As mentioned in the previous post, Montero is definitely out, and Rosales and Fernandez will probably be out. But, just for fun, and for the third to last time in the regular season, here is Yoshou's Guaranteed to be Wrong Predicted Line-up: [LINEUP-4-4-2]Jaqua, Fucito, Neagle, Evans, Alonso, Friberg, Wahl, Parke, Hurtado, Riley, Keller[/LINEUP-4-4-2] I also wouldn't be shocked to see Noonan or even Ochoa in for Jaqua and, maybe, just maybe, Fernandez in for Friberg and Friberg in for Evans.
Oh, yeah... let's play for a draw!!! What? You mean we should win this game to have a chance for SS? We could keep a shut-out but how are we going to score?
Hey.. If you've got a line-up that has some offensive punch with Montero, Rosales, and Fernandez out, you're more than welcome to show it.
I hope Sigi roles the dice and starts Ochoa instead of baby giraffe, otherwise those injuries/suspensions pretty much dictate the lineup. Wouldn't mind seeing some more of Estrada, he showed well @ NER
Potentially. We're bringing baby Yoshou, so we'll see how he does. 7 is usually his bed time, but lately he's been pushing it to 7:30 or 8.
Must be nice, when our youngest was that age it was 11 no matter what we tried. I'll PM my cell number if you are going to be there give me a call and I will head over before the match.
Sigi leaning towards no Rosales: http://twitter.com/#!/joshuamayers/status/122024712791531521 Flaco better, but not medically cleared: http://twitter.com/#!/joshuamayers/status/122023548612132864 Thanks Taylor Twellman for the concussion rules. Sucks it happened to late to save his career though.
Put Ochoa in for Jaqua and swap Evans out to the wing for Friberg and that's probably our line-up. I feel like there's at least 1 goal in there, maybe 2.
The past few weeks have been so riddled with anxiety as I wait for the next Sounders match. They've all been so important, from the CCL matches to the league matches to the USOC semi and final. And it isn't over. I wish today was Saturday so that I could watch the Philly game! If we win tomorrow, we will be 4 points behind LA with two weeks to go. And the remaining two weeks' schedule favors us. So this a must-win game. I hope we can pull it off without Montero and Rosales. Don't be shy in telling your compatriots in the stands how important it is to win this game. I hope the crowd and supporters groups really bring the intensity and inspire the team to another victory.
well, it was a pleasure to enjoy the rosales era games, looks like sigi is going the end the season with they way he started it, bad passing, no cohesion, second rate everything.
Well it doesn't help that we didn't have Montero & rosales with flaco not starting. That's 24 goals and 20 assists not playing.
Not sure I agree, there. Sigi's story is gonna be that the team was still coming down from the celebrations. How, then, do we explain Alonso's great game? Or Keller's? Or Neagle's?
