Besides stubhub, ebay, and craigslist, what other sources are out there for non-season ticket holders to purchase tickets to sold out Red Bulls games?
The Red Bulls Ticket Exchange has season ticket holders who can't use their seats. http://www.redbullsticketexchange.com
There are usually a fair amt of scalpers in the areas surrounding the stadium. Not sure how much they have avail for sellouts, but for the Galaxy game I would imagine a lot, since its a reschedule.
Wow, I'm surprised that there might be a lot of scalped tickets available outside the stadium for the Galaxy game. I figured that since it's a high-profile matchup, the scalpers outside the arena might not have too much stock, which in turn would drive up prices considerably. And I'm not sure that my friends want to pay more than $30-$35 for a ticket since they're casual fans. Assuming your hunch is correct about lots of tickets being available outside the stadium for the Galaxy game, what do you think the going rate would be for upper level tickets? Do you think it's possible to score tix in the $25 range? It's a tricky call for me, because my friends don't want to pay too much for a ticket, but at the same time I haven't seen any good deals online - the tickets that look reasonably priced at first glance always end up having massive ticket surcharges, which jacks up the total price considerably. So I've been going back and forth about possibly waiting until gameday and then buying from scalpers outside the stadium, with the risk that I may have to pay exorbitant prices depending on how many tickets the scalpers have. Anyway, thanks to everyone thus far for the great tips - I really appreciate your help.
Well, considering the game was moved due to Hurricane Irene and right now a majority of fans is pissed off massively at the franchise top to bottom, the tickets are probably readily available via the secondary market.
If I were to deal with scalpers outside Red Bull Arena on gameday, do you think I'd be able to score tickets in the $25 and under range? Or do you think online prices will drop as we approach gameday? Like I said, I haven't really seen any reasonably priced tickets on the web - anything that appears to be in the $25 range at first glance is saddled with exorbitant ticket surcharges. Lots of ticket offers out there in the $50-$100 range, too.
Sorry, stupid question on my part: Do you mean that there are tickets available for sale at the arena's box office or on the Red Bulls' official website?
Due to the re-scheduling of the Red Bulls/Galaxy match, a very limited amount of tickets for the October 4th match have become available. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, September 29th @ 10am, season ticket holders will have the ability to purchase these newly available seats. Seats will then be made available to the general public on Friday, September 30th @ 2pm. To order tickets, please call 1.877.RBSOCCER starting at 10am tomorrow.
Weird - Ticket exchange has tickets for $100 which isn't face value - I thought you had to price them at face value? http://www.redbullsticketexchange.com/view.php?match_id=13&order=0&col=0 Edit - someone just added 2 tickets for $50 in section 126 - that's a better deal.
$25 or under might be tough. When I've hit the scalpers they were all close to face value, though these were for lower profile games. It's tough to judge, there could be a lot because of the resched. or very few because its the Galaxy. Scalpers tend to get pretty desperate after a sporting event starts though. Save a few to approach after kickoff and offer $20 a head for upper levels. you'd probably get a deal if they have anything available.
Yup, I bought a few $25 tickets this morning - they weren't supposed to start selling to non-season ticket holders like myself until 2pm, but I was able to get the tix anyway. Thanks again to everyone for all of your help.
