What are you saying? All he said was getting 7 points more (which is if you can do the math is 2 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss among the remaining 4 games). That is not one win every 8 games.

Over the last 5 games, we have 2 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss. We had all sorts of absences and injuries since mid-May. It is only just in the last 2 weeks that we now have our full strength roster including Nielsen of all people.

It is not easy for these last 4 games to get even 7 points, but with our roster finally at full strength it is very possible. I can pull up your quote from just a few weeks ago where you trashed even the idea as to what the team has done over the last 5 games

Well lest make some mathematical, since July 9 they lose or they don't win to: DCU 1.0, Chivas 0.0, Colorado 4.1, FC Dallas 2.2, RSL 3.0, Chicago 2.2, Revolution 2.2, Vancouver 1.1 and they Winn to Dallas 1.0 that make one winning match in every 9 games they play...

Now if we will start counting again, in Sept 21 they lose RSL 3.1 and 9/24 they win to Portland 2.0 and for the effect or consideration of the other team RBNY are in the rough to lose from now on 7 more game in a row, because that is the stile they impose all year around.......

Truthfully our remaining schedule are all winnable games. MLS is a parity league and we are the sort of team that can beat any team in the league but also lose to any.. Toronto is average at best atm. Truthfully LA hasn't been that good recently barely winning 1-0 games and not to mention their long schedule, I can see our players playing hard against LA at home a win is definitely possible. SKC is the hardest of the four imo as they have a pretty good attack and have found some great form but still it's a parity league and we might catch some good form as well. Philly game will be a bloodbath.

    Toronto- 2-0 victory
    LA- 2-1 Victory
    SKC- 2-2 draw
    Philly 1-0 victory

    10 points!

    hopefully :(

Not their style all year metz.. the BUlls were 4-1-2 to start the season...they easily could end the season that way too!

I'm not sure what that is, but it's not math. Just look at Luke Rodgers record with the team for some different "math".

I have no idea what's going to happen - I just remember you saying I'm on drugs when I said that NY still could make the playoffs, and they still could. I still won't be shocked if we go out or if we make it. It's a little better than a coin flip that we make it.

Oh!... When we start the season all 34 games was winnable and a bunch of you was betting for the Shield, the USA CUP and the MLS CUP, because Henry and Rodger will make a Hat trick every game, well, we are here at the end of the season and we have a chance only, for the # 10 place of the Play Off, and we are not there yet, because if we continue to playing at the same rhythm as we have been playing all season long, we will not make the play off....and that is the fact that we have to affront...

Metz - hope you show up if we make it and say you were wrong. I'm all for realistic views - but you take negativism to a whole new level. We could easily still miss out, but our chances are similar to other teams. LA may rest players against us if they wrap up the supporters shield, and other teams have to play each other.

I am pretty sure metz will be happy if we make the playoffs.... sometimes I get mad at him but he is ultimately a Red Bull supporter and wants them to do well...

If he doesn't agree with the above statement then I renew my request for him to become a DC Scum supporter and leave us be!

The way things stand in the East, NYRB could actually still finish first. The odds of them winning every game are no lower than them losing every game. They have the talent to beat any team in this league. This is not like Levante having to go to Barcelona and win or Wigan having to go to Old Trafford and pulling a win. NYRB has the talent to beat any of the last 4 opponents. Of course, winning hasn't been happening, and I'm not saying it will start now, but it's well within their capability to do so. We're not talking miracles.

    Let's root the team on!

Metz, the possibiity of winning the supporters shield was a real one at the beginning of the season. We were hit by quite a number of issues most of all was Rodgers being out for so long and when he was back in June way below 100%, the Gold Cup, quite a few injuries particularly for our team with not the greatest depth.

Now that we have the healthiest squad we have had all year, plus a better goalkeeper, the benchmark is at least the record with Luke Rodgers (Our MVP hands down) plus even better with the full strength squad and seeing a 7 point finish is a real possibility. Tonight is clearly 3 out of those 7 points (I am crossing my fingers) and then we have real momentum. I agree with enforcer that SKC is our toughest match given its away and they will have much at stake and with a sell out crowd as well.

And we have real chance as to even getting the #2 spot in our division or also not making the playoffs. The #1 spot would take a lot of luck plus something like 9 pts which is a little too much to ask.

Would be a lot of luck just to enter to the Play Off, because what we are counting is that the RDNY will win at least 3 games of the four and that DCU, CHI and Portland will lose 3 of four they have to play, and that will be a lot of luck....

You are really confused about what we need to qualify. We do not need three wins plus three losses by these teams.

Yep. If we go 3 out of 4, Columbus could go 2 out of 3 and we'd still pass them.

With the number of close teams in the East, if RBNY can go 2-2-0 they'll likely gt in. Not a given, but probably a 65% chance.

But should look a little bit like a 4-2-2-2 when things break down.

Wow what was all of that about Richie Williams and Backe on the TV pregame? I miss Richie... he must have done a lot of the prep work for Backe and the new Assistant Coach really doesn't have a clue...
