I honestly really hate watching pre-season matches in any sports, it's just a tease. But did anyone watch Dallas play Denver?

Big game Monday. No Austin and Dez is iffy. Add to that Jones' shoulder and Tony Romo's rib....

A healthy Dallas would be a big favorite here but as things are this is a toss up.

Your post here and your thread in Education about Oregon's new athletic facility are absolutely perfect for the P&CE forum IF you approach the thread from the angle of how our obsession with sports "clouds our judgement" (not words I'd use, but read on) and saps resources that could be used in a lot of different ways. Sports discussed as a behavioral science is worthy of that forum, especially when it involves public funding and public education, and wouldn't be so affected by fanship. But you've got to be willing to put it there.

I'm going to say up front that I'm a sports fan, and so the financial outlay for and emotional involvement in the institution of sports doesn't bother me. But I'd love to see a discussion of something that really is important- the implications of the slave trade and Jim Crow on SEC football and SEC coaching and administrative positions, handled by folks who don't care about college football. The same for race issues in (soccer) and any other sport that's affected by them. I can see discussion of pay disparity in women's sports being a topic.

Problem is, there's always someone to try to box it all up and send it back to Sports because they don't agree with you. Maybe you want to try a general sports as an institution thread. I'll contribute for sure, if you can get a mod to allow it to stay there.
