I'm not renewing based on principle even though I can afford it as well. I simply refuse to pay more for an increasingly inferior product. There is no added benefit to being a season ticket holder anyway other than a guaranteed seat location, but seeing how seats in my section (126) are always half empty I don't think it will be a problem to acquire tickets near my location. All the other so-called benefits are now being sold under the guise of this mandatory stampede membership bullshit, and I could care less about getting Mehdi Ballouchy's autograph or a crappy trucker's hat. Better to buy tickets through the secondary market for below face value and save a few bucks.
I have heard back from Fan Services, let me summarize their comments for you: On the situation as a whole: Let them eat cake On my personal situation: S*cks being you The best they can do is to give me priority for relocating me after the renewal period closes. Woopee!! Finally, after seeing how Chris Heck has reacted, I predict that if the ticket sales for Premium Midfield seats somehow goes well, more seats will become Premium Midfield.
This. Plain and simple. Even if we got our seats guaranteed for every event held in the stadium (even if it wasn't free) it still probably wouldn't be worth it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, as much as I like the games, if it weren't for the people I tailgate with prior to the game, I probably would only go to a few games a year. Now with this price hike, IF I renew, it'll probably just be the cheapest seats available, and I'll move.
Turn the tables. Don't renew. When sales drop it will really suck to be a Red Bulls Fan Services rep. I seriously doubt potential new buyers are lining up to pay $1100 plus a extra mandatory $25 to $200 for a stampede membership to fill the now empty premium midfield seats. Let that section become a festival seating free for all.
Is it possible they are gambling that it will be easier to re-sell the midfield seats and hope we all move to the seats they can't sell???
I think that this is very likely. I also think that this might be a good strategy. Let's keep in mind that while there is a lot of complaining on the boards, in reality, for individual tickets, Section 226 sells better and faster than everything else. There must be plenty of people who are not die-hards, but if they are able to buy great seats for $60-70, they would attend.
I think they are gambling that at the end of the day we'll be suckers and renew. I think they think that people will believe that the $100 cash card will equal savings on the price hike - and they figure folks won't walk away from the "$200 value" of free black card. And that the price isn't too out of whack with the rest of the league so folks will re-up and move if they don't like the price.
Exactly. Voting with our feet is the only effective communication tool we are left with. It does not seem RBNY management (Chris Heck, specifically) are worried about the e-mails and phone calls RBNY are receiving from former season ticket holders. Pretty Arrogant. Why would you do nothing to take care of some of your most faithful customers? I guess RBNY have no sense of the team as a community of players, management, employees, neighbors and fans.
You gotta think management was pissed last night. What a disaster for encouraging folks to renew. Had they won the game - playoffs would be much more secure and with another win this weekend and they'd be in great shape by the deadline. Then you have the Rafa debacle. I'm once again leaning towards not renewing - why plunk down all that cash now just to save $100 when I can save much much more than that by not renewing. Without the corner club - there's very little incentive for me to renew.
But did you see all of that demand for seats last night? Wow, what an atmosphere! I've never seen a crowd like that since the U.S. Open Cup! Can't wait for the sold out Galaxy match on a Tuesday night. Sold out with 10,000 empty seats, that is. This is turning into a bigger blunder than New Coke in 1985. I wonder if Chris Heck decorated his office yet?
Of course they are. How are they supposed to sell when ownership is handcuffing their ability to do so? This isn't their fault and they shouldn't have to deal with our emails and phone calls.
Someone on metrofanatic made it sound like a lot of them were fired - which might explain why my regular rep of many years is gone without any notice.
After discussing this with a few of my friends we have all decided not to renew for next year. It's a decision based on principle, and if any of you are still on the fence I welcome you to tell Ownership how you really feel and walk away with your money. We will continue to support the team and the players that give it their all.
Throw me on that boat too. I haven't called them or anything. Just curious how long it takes before someone calls me, hopeful that I'm going to renew...
As suggested on this thread I emailed both fan services and Mr. Heck and politely outlined my concerns. Fan services actually called me back. I will return their call to explain my decision and why. I will also write a detailed letter to Mr. Heck explaining my decision. Anyone know the mailing address? I don't want to send him another email. I want to send him a physical piece of paper.
