Anyone see the Shields MRI commercials with Tedy Bruschi during the football games yesterday? The logos for the Pats, Celtics, Bruins and Revs are there just behind him. "The MRI provider of the Partriots, Celtics and Bruins", he says. No mention of the Revs, whatsoever. Way to work that sponsorship, Bob & Jonathan. EDIT: Monty, can we fix the thread title?
Re: Another kick in the Jumk On the other hand, on ZLX this morning, there is a guy who does a thing called "don't be that guy" where he goes on a rant. This week it was about some idiot who predected the Pats would go undefeated after yesterday's game. As part of the rant, he said that the other teams have all won championships since the last time the Pats did, and even the Revolution came close. "I bet they will even win one before the Pats do..." Well, obviously he knows about the Revs but doesn't follow them at all... Very surprised to even hear a mention.
Re: Another kick in the Jumk Along the same lines, this partnership with United Healthcare has been less than impressive. Where’s the Revs/UH commercial, for example? magicJack’s got Abby Wambach in theirs, and that team doesn’t even have a proper website. I’ve got a VW car racing game app on my iPhone and half the ads on the track are giant DC United logos. Where’s the cross-promotion (or the promotion at all)?
Re: Another kick in the Jumk Something like this would be nice. But no one would accuse the Revs of knowing how to actually market. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_YAZEwYl54"]Timbers Coach in Alaska Airlines commercial - YouTube[/ame]
Robbie Keane coming to MLS, but not the Revs where he could actually make a difference in the stands, is far and away a bigger deal than these insignificant instances. Of course, sponsors not really caring could be a products of owners who don't really care.
Don’t even get me started on the Keane thing. We don’t know what the total of the shirt sponsorship is, but it had to be over a million didn’t it? What confuses me is UH forking over that much money and then being content for the partnership to remain in neutral. No TV spots, no radio spots, no jerseys with the sponsorship logo available in the pro shop, nothing beyond a sparsely-attended conference at the stadium. UH can pay me a fat chunk to be my sponsor and I promise to do a little more to publicize it.
Yeah, I love that Alsaska Airlines spot... And the RSL one where they were defending the castle, and a bunch of other ones that are far better than a guy on a fishing boat holding a scarf. You'd think that with some of the genuie personalities on this team -- Reis and Soares come to mind, and there are probably others -- it shouldn't be all that hard to create something that works and is funny without trying hard to be. Do you really think they couldn't have done our version of that ad with Nicol in the suregon's kit telling the patient that he's being a "ponce" and that he should "ge' baack ooot there, ett's jooost a wee li-ul flesh wound"
This is true. If they came out with a geniunely funny commercial, I'd laugh for 5 seconds before remembering that private health insurers are destroying our country.
Well, airlines with crappy service are still better than insurers responsible for the deaths of thousands with cronic/terminal illnesses
But fat people are a riot. Also, ridicule is an effective motivational tool. Combine the two and you have a winning campaign to fight obesity.
I am genuinely horrified by this response and attitude. I sent you a private message to explain why..happy to continue the dialogue there. Not the first time this issue has arisen with the UNH deal
So true. In terms of the sponsorship, here are some snarky co-marketing ideas (couldn't resist). Add the Revs to the UNH "health education" area of their website called Healthcare Lane. It's a happy little Healthcare Patriot Place with a pharmacist, dentist, fitness and assorted other happy places. Kind of looks like Foxboro actually..lots of room for a SSS! Make little cartoon characters of injured Revs stumbling in and out of the little health clinic, maybe Dabo could give a talk on medicare or something. The Drive in Theatre is a great place to have a "meet the Revs trainers" virtual session to educate Revs fans about some aspect of health. No pro shop yet - Looks like there's room for Healthcare Lane e-expansion!
If you choose, I'm happy to have the same conversation with you or anyone else via private message I am having with LongDuckDong and that I have had with others. Just drop me a line. I just figure that most people here don't want such a discussion on this board.
If you don't have health insurance then I don't recommend being a Revs fan. It is necessary to cover multiple conditions that arise by supporting this franchise.
Why not? It's not like we have any real soccer stuff to talk about; just he said she said rumors, crappy performances, and delusional Rev employees. We can talk about the crappy state of our government/society/economy to forget about the Revs (shouldn't it be vice versa? ).
Speaking of "kicks in the junk," I imagine Team Opps would kick our fans in the junk if they saw something like this at a Rev game. Yes, that is former Schalke 04 GK Manuel Neuer "going down" on Bayern Munich chairman Uli Hoeness in his tighty whities. When I saw this, I immediately thought of the YSA incident earlier this year. My girlfriend phrased it perfectly, "wow, and you guys get in trouble for saying *h*t a few times?"
