i believe KC is also one of 3 MLS teams that have won at Rio Tinto as well (NY [08 WCF], Seattle 11 and KC 09 i think is the list off the top of my head). i hope the boys are fired up and ready to go at SuKC. gotta have 3 points to stay in the thick of the playoff race. that and we gotta put those east bitches in their place. edit: damn im good, RSL has played 50 competitive MLS matches at Rio Tinto (including playoffs) and have lost 3 games. that is in. sane. 3 losses out of 50 matches and 2 of those have come from this year, think about that for a second. teams have a 6% chance of winning on our field, hahah, every other team in the league has at least twice as many home losses over the period of time that the RioT has been open. fortress indeed.
So it's difficult to go to RSL games and not get spoiled on the college football results. I wonder if the inverse will be true. Will someone blab the result before I can boot up MDL upon my return home? I'm assuming that's my only viewing option.
I know I'm up for this game, so I would think/hope RSL is, too. I'm sure they're not taking them lightly. They don't take any team lightly. And they have a little revenge in mind, I'm sure. They know they need the 3 points and that they have to play every game with everything they have to win anything.

this ref is ********ing garbage. someone needs to inform him that we are playing at home, we are getting NO calls. unbelievable.
I didn't know that there was a rule that informed the officials that the home team needed to get the benefit of better calls. Learn something new every day! In other news, at the half the MLSSoccer stats showed RSL with 54% of possession, yet it feels the opposite of that to me. Maybe it is because the quality of the possession by RSL was so poor and generally with the defenders.
the ankle hacking by SuKC is pretty ridiculous, it got into RSL's head and they started playing ultra aggressive. lots of booting long balls, dont like it. need to play our game and not let these screwheads get to us.
It seems to be better now for me, but it's playing here, too: http://www.justin.tv/beowolf516#/w/1784243536/2
I haven't seen a ref be such a stickler with ball position on throw-in's and spot kicks. Huge for us. SuKC never had a chance to burn us with a quick ball in.
Pretty intense night at the RioT. Very fast, physical game. Grabs not up to speed tonight. Sabo disconnected for the most part. Fabian worked his little nalguitas off Andy was a workhorse Nick MOTM Clean sheet against that attack>>>>awesomeness
this night just went from awesome with the RSL win to ********ING GODDAMN GLORIOUS with the Utah beatdown on the zoobs.
Great game. Great win. Nick was ON his game tonight big time. The only downside to this game is Kyle got a yellow, and just on the game that I think would've brought him down a yellow, because of some flop. However, he needs a rest, so it's a silver lining. I think it's funny that some KC fans think RSL are thugs and overly physical. Hahahaha. That's funny. KC are the thugs. That's their style of play. Thuggery. KC are floppers and babies, too. And their GK pulled an Arabe Unido. The funniest thing ever, though, was their GK chasing the ball around in the corner. Fun game, though. The ref did as much or more to disrupt RSL's flow, that's for sure. RSL can win pretty and if you're going to turn it into a brawl, like Kreis said, they can win it ugly, too. That is definitely what KC did - turn it into a brawl. The ref was their 12th man. Will Johnson said it best, on Twitter: Thank you so much to all our amazing fans who came out tonight. I know it wasn't pretty but 3 pts is 3 pts. You guys are amazing.
from michael lewis twitter: "Beckerman said RSL's 1-0 win was the most boring game he's ever been apart of. He felt bad for 19,888 at RioT who paid money." hahah. ill take it. as long as utah wins 54-10 over TDS right after. lmfao.
maybe he was referring to all the penalties that didn't make any sense at all. it seemed like the whistle was being blown every minute.
Here's what Beckerman said, from MLS Soccer. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...e-tough-enough-land-knockout-blow-against-skc “Most boring game I’ve ever been a part of in my life,” Beckerman told reporters after the match. “What were there, like 100 fouls? I felt bad for the fans that came and spent their money. It’s a shame because there was no rhythm to the game, and there was no soccer playing – it was a bunch of free kicks. It just wasn’t fun.”
I dunno, watching Beckerman have a few *very* choice words with a KC player then pointing to the scoreboard, coupled with a win, was a pretty good return on my entertainment dollar investment
Yeah, I found quite a bit of entertainment in that game. Their GK was definitely good for some entertainment.
I agree with Beckerman. I nearly went to sleep watching it, my wife did go to sleep a couple of times (we are in EDT, so it was getting late). There was little flow to the game by either team. Soccer, when well played, is similar to basketball, a game of timing, rhythm and coordination, beautiful. Neither team did much of that.
Not at all a pretty match to watch but a win is a win and we got 3 points against a playoff team pushing to be the top seed in the east. Great to see so many fans at Rio Tinto, but whats up with so many fans showing up so late?? Don't they know the first few minutes of a soccer match can be the key moments in many matches??
