LOL! I remember that post, haha. I was going to say the same. He is highly sensitive and has quite the ego. A little humility will go a long way, Ives...

don't give ives the pageviews. He rarely breaks important news anymore, and his analysis is terrible.

The only reason he could build up a following was because he sucked on the USSF's thingy and got a few scoops out of it.

Seltzer and Shredder are the only two reporters worth paying attention to. Shinguardian for tactics. All others are worthless, and yes that includes you, Grant Wahl. More feature stories, less "analysis" would be welcome.

Or maybe he just thought that talking about his girth wasn't a productive line of discussion.

I don't read him and I'm not a fan of his, but c'mon.
I'll bet that the analysis pieces get more pageviews and that's why you see so many of them. It's not just Grant, it's all sports journos.

Wow, if you guys hate Ives' site so much, why do you still read it? No one is forcing you to. If you think Seltzer is a much better reporter, stick to his blog and MLSSoccer.com.

I'm quite sure that Cjandler will play for the US Team, but there aren't as many things against the switch as you may think, so I just want to correct some of your minor errors.

Yeah that's true but in the past years I've heard so many football players to declare their love for one club and in the next moment they go to another club. And I think in modern football it's not such a great difference to play for a club or a country. The other thing is: I'm quite sure
some weeks ago he thought that he had no chance to get into the german squad, because his position was lockes with Lahm. Well that changed now(as I will point out below) and that might have changed his frame of mind
    .
Nowadays germany has some quality players and some great talents, but not on every position. The positions that have an abundance of talents waiting to üplay for germany are Goalkeeper, CB and any position in the midfield. But at front there is a shortage behind Klose and Gomez, and the major problem is the Fullback position. as of today Lahm is the only quality player at that position. He has a lock for one fullback position fo year to come, but it will be the left one. He will play the LB for certain, because at Bayern he plays it and Löw said he doesn't want Lahm to switch from LB to RB every time he plays for germany. And on the left side is the same shortage of player as there is on the right side, because the most likely alternatives as LB are Schmelzer and Aogo, and both of them underperformed more or less every time they played for germany. And there are a lot of experts who see Lahm to be a much better LB than RB.

Well that is true, but how much will it hinder him to do his job right and get the best team he can to play for germany?

??? Well I don't know what a relationship FRanz ( I assume you mean Beckenbauer?) and Klinsi share, but I can assure you that that has no influence if Chandler gets asked to play for germany or not. I can't imagine Franz to have so much to say in the german FA and even if he did, they don't tell Löw who he can chose to select to play and who not.

That's good for him, because as I#ve heard he barely speaks english, and without them it would be a lot tougher for him. But in the german team there are some players with foreign roots, so I don't think it would be a great deal for him to connect with the teammates, especially because I think he's more german than american.

Well if I were Löw i would say even if I spoke with Chandler. I don't see the benefit if he would say so now.

Well as I pointed out earlier, the position as RB is pretty much open for any contender. So if he performs good it's could be his position for the taking. So he could get an assured starting position for germany as well, and I'm quite certain that a starting position for germany is better for advertising you skills to bigger clubs and for better oportunities than a starting position for the US.

I think it's hilarious all these USMNT fans that don't like Wahl because he doesn't spoon feed them stuff they want to hear.

    From Brian Straus's twitter:

RT @sgevans Klinsmann says he understands there was no contact between German FA and Chandler this week and no change.
    ************

Good news, and what's interesting about this is that it seems like Jurgen took the time to go find out if there was any funny business. Aka, he's a smart man, and wants Chandler to stick around.

He either called Chandler directly, called Loew directly, or the German FA directly. Or a combination of those three.

Who cares. He's still ours for now.

Now that Chandler's agent says he's had no contact with Germany and is happy with the US can we please either lock this thread or change the title?

The fact of the matter here is Sanneh misunderstood Chandler. Chandler was talking about wanting a Lowes in Germany.

Tony Sannah (I forget the spelling) isn't a nobody, but it's still perfectly possible that he was just plain wrong. Greater soccer minds have been so.

Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany

I am tired of this rumor also, Germany is so stacked with players I do not understand why this conversation still happens. I would think now more than ever with Klinsman on board that he would even be more comfortable with the US by having a German Connection. It would be great to see a interview from Chandler and Klinsman squashing this once and for all...

Poor guy says he's weary of all the questions about his international status since he hasn't changed his tune from "I'm playing for the U.S." Welcome to the bigs buddy. Guess he understands now how much we want him.

Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany

Yeah, I would take this year of questioning over the constant career long media and fan pressure if he were to play for Germany. On the day of the qualifier in June, he will no longer have any real pressure put on him from the media.
