Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany Euro 2012 qualifying matches count as official cap-tie matches as well. Though we never have similar games since we automatically qualify for every Gold Cup.
Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany How is the German LB situation though? Because as people have said, this rumor thing will last as long as it lasts, which means a cap tie.
Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany If no one bother to ask Chandler if he wants to stay with Germany ... then How the hell did this rumor start..? It's not like the NB coach said "USA soccer is terrible, play for Germany for more fame!"? I'm pretty sure he will stay with the USA.
Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany Germany uses Centrebacks as Rightbacks, right now Jerome Boateng and Benedikt Höwedes. It provides more defensive stability but it might just be because there is no real RB player. The Germans obviously wish for a Philipp Lahm clone on the other site but there is no such player yet. There are, however, players like Gonzalo Castro and Andreas Beck in the league. Both have played for Germany before but are right now not in the squad. Some believe Castro should get a chance, but he's completely ignored by Löw.
Re: Rumor: Timmy Chandler now Repping Germany I hope this rumor DIES. We need him. He has been nothing but positive for the US, and the other German speaking players on the team should help. Hands off Germany, we found him first. P.S. Wonder if this poor kid realizes how much the US fans love him already. I'm sure his agent does. EDIT: And I don't care what the crap his club is doing once WCQ starts. First game, he gets capped. PERIOD. Even if he's got an injury. He can stand on the field for the last 30 seconds.
lol, I see the AP report already: Tony Sanneh says Chandler will switch on twitter. Greg Selzer says, "No" Nuremberg- Former US national team defender Tony Sanneh has launched his twitter career-and it's created quite a stir. Sanneh, a former US national team defender, posted on popular social media site Twitter that the German-American soccer player Timothy Chandler could be switching on his internet device to access the website Twitter. Sanneh, who has played for Chandler's current club, 1. FC Nuremberg, posted the following message: "OMG my peeps Lizzen up. Hearing rumours saying Timmy Chandler will turn on twitter. Jogi Lowe will be coming around to assist him shortly." However, this has raised a few eyebrows, especially considering Twitter only allows 140 characters. Still, Grant Wahl retweeted it, and within minutes, the blogosphere was ablaze. "Losing Timmy Chandler with be a bitter blow to our chances of winning the World Cup next year," says a man (or woman?) who is only identified by the name 123USAUSAGOTEAM on the popular web forum "Bigsoccer.com" Others disagree, even questioning Tony Sanneh's position at Nuremberg and his reliability. "Sanneh's position at Nuremberg was not what people thought. He was not a fullback as some have claimed. He was a "wing-carrilero-sweeper." And he was not very reliable. Sometimes he played well, other times he didn't" says David Hasselgoff, a German soccer blogger who runs to popular site "BallWatch." While experts question why David Hasselgoff is so damn popular in Germany, anther European based soccer reporter has expressed his doubts at "Sanneh-gate," as no one is calling it. "I have contacted Nuremberg's web administrator, as well as Jogi Lowe and they have both denied Mr. Chandler will switch on Twitter," explains Greg Seltzer who's reporting and fame has extended beyond the water community and reached American soccer fans. As American soccer fans wait to see whether Timmy Chandler will once and for all switch on Twitter, could the next step be a switch to facebook? -AP Press Wire
there's so many things working AGAINST chandler switching to Germany. Ppl tend to foreget that as little as 2 weeks ago Chandler said he had no plans playing for Germany. germany has several quality defenders in their early 20s and Lahm (27) has one of those full back positions on lock for the next couple years. The country is a freaken gold mine for talent and will soon surpass Spain as the european power once the golden generation's wheels start to fall off. Also, Germany's coach owes his dream job to Klinnsmann. Prior to his current job Low was a european journeyman. JK gave him his shot. I'll be shocked if Low sends out feelers to chandler knowing JK has big plans for him. im sure Klinsi also has a good relationship with Franz (who still has influence over the german FA) Chandler will also have 4 fellow national team members who share the same exact background as him. finally the rumor was squashed by that mlssoccer writer saying Low didnt speak to chandler nor did he go visit FCN. this is classic irrational anxiety by the US fan base.
Wasn't there an article a while back that stated He wanted to stay in the U.S He looks true to his word. He will stay, this [rumor] is just complete hogwash.
Subotic nor Rossi were really true to their word, Chandler was never really interested in playing for Germany. He knew his chances were greater here, than in Germany.
has done absolutely nothing to reach the level of hype reached in this love triangle. what's worse is, if and when he chooses there will be unnecessarily raised exceptions because all of this.
He didn't. I hope Chandler doesn't play for Germany. But could anybody really blame him if he did? I certainly wouldn't hold it against him.
Seriously, do Grant Wahl or Ives Galarcep have something against Greg Seltzer or his reporting? I posted Seltzer's quote from Loew on SBI and was promptly banned from posting on that site. So much for balanced and thorough reporting...
Absolutely it should be held against him. As a dual national myself, I can understand how a decision like this is difficult. That being said, he has stated emphatically in the media that he would only play for the US and would never consider Germany. If he felt differently, he never should have stated this. He made a commitment to the US and if he has any integrity, he will live up to it.
As far as I know there have been no additional reports on Chandler switching countries. Chandler, himself, has said he he's playng for the US and he has never mentioned a switch to Germany. Until Chandler actually confirms this I maintain that this is an unsubstantiated rumour with little or no merit.
Yes, he is a dick. One time he made a blatant error in his reporting, I corrected it in a post (that lambasted him for the error). He corrected it, took down my post, and banned me. BTW, the OP, in typical BS fashion, completely mischaracterizes Sanneh's tweet.
He's no different from the lovefest going on for Brek Shea and Juan Agudelo. We're talking about his potential - he looks like he has a lot of it. Not only based on his USMNT play, but his Bundesliga play.
I got banned by Ives for politely suggesting he eat a few more salads, and a few less burgers, fries and beers. His ego is growing as fast as his waistline.
