I agree with this. Part of the reason I'm so excited about Gervinho as well.

    Per Young Guns:

"Emmanuel Frimpong has confirmed he intends to play for Ghana, but says he is happy to play for England's U21's in the mean time, to attract a call up."

Thats bad news for Arsenal :( I fully respect his decision though but purely from a selfish point of view im not happy

His half-brother played DII college ball for me. Kept bragging about him playing with the Arsenal academy, and didn't believe him until we watched some academy highlights on ATVO together (miss that coverage!). So I've been partial to EF for a few years now and I'm thrilled to finally see him striking such an optimistic chord among Gooners.

Is there a reason Frimpong wants to play for Ghana?

He was born in Ghana, and why would anyone want to play for England? Perennial underachievers, a culture of drinking which prevents potential from being achieved, a press that seems to derive more pleasure from undermining the team, and a vastly overrated team comprised of inflated transfer value types. Yeah Go Engerlund. smh

I like what Arseblog said about him playing for Ghana, which is that he condemned himself to a lifetime of yellow and red cards in the premier league. :)

I'd prefer for him to play for england myself, love to get in on the england lovefest from refs. However as the child of an immigrant, who's played for teams in both nationalites at youth level I can empathize with the difficulties and motivations he must be facing.

Nothing so fanciful as full National teams, but I've played at as high a level as you can in Canada pre-mls, and what I guess what you would call semi-pro in Jamaica. Having dabbled in both youth setups, it was my dad who pointed out some facts of life. I come from a long line of men with bad knees, both federations were full of corruption and I'd be better off trying to get into a good school in the States and let footbal pay for my schooling.

Funny enough later on I stretched an ACL and I've never recoved so much as a third of my ability to accelerate so... conservative bet was the good bet apparently.

lulz English team? in name only my man. You guys would be mediocre if all the foreigners left. You know it and I know it. Funny enough the English game plateaud/fell off when the Heysel ban went into effect.

For the record, I'm Dutch. Proud child of Suriname, born in Holland, became a man in America. I hate the US setup even more, if it makes you feel better.

FYI Suriname's produced more world class players then England :p

Always wonder how good Suriname would be if they kept their players

Or even allowed dual citizenship so they could take the not good enough for Netherlands national team players

Like it or not, Frimpong is a product of the "crap" English youth set-up, and not the Ghanaian. For what that's worth.

    Fail
How many of those players came through ajax? Did they learn to play in their 'home' country? It's like saying vieira should've played for Senegal

England has produced plenty of world class talent since the 80s, but not as much as Holland....but a quick point, what has arsenal won without an English core, then tell me what united and Chelsea have with one....hmmm
