    Arteta?

Is this sort of like ending up with your exs slightly ugly friend? :p

Gimme a break. While promising, there's no way Frimpong or ASQOC are ready for regular rotation yet. And Ramsey doesn't quite look ready to shoulder the load yet. Diaby can't stay on the pitch. And Arshavin should see as little of it as possible.

Arteta is a solid pickup who adds some of the creativity we lost with Cesc.

Jack cracks me up. He's a superstar but he tweets like a regular dude.

    God, I hate twitter.

If we add both Arteta and Benayoun in the next little while we'll at least have some good depth and options.

he's good, but not world class, granted. but how many world class players are available, and would Arsene sign them?

I think Arteta is simply a panic buy, if being truly honest. But to be fair, he has Premier League experience and I can see he will help us creatively/goal-wise.

All in all, with Mertesacker, Santos, and Arteta, isn't hasn't been that bad a window.

if you think signing Arteta doesn't relieve some of the stress from the cesc loss you haven't seen him play much. He's creative and smart he has an okay amount of pace and he can share the bench with RVP because they are both injury proned just like Cesc is. It'll be just like old times!

    I keed i keed lol, he's a great pickup.

I was on the fence with it at first. But call it the creep in me, but I was interested what certain people had to say.

The obvious perks of it of course is getting real time feedback on any topic. Be it Arsenal, or whats going on in a certain part of town, etc.

According to a retweet from Arseblog, Robbie Savage on the BBC ran down Mertesacker because of his disappointing spell at Real Madrid. :D

Agreed- no big name signed, but seemingly all the problem area addressed. Would have loved to see an M'Vila type, but we have decent depth all the way around.

More than enough to compete for 4th, which, given the money United, Chelsea and City have, is about the best we can do for now.

No, Benayoun is good. Not world class, but quality.

I think people don't rate Benayoun because it looks like he should suck. Super skinny, with that stupid floppy hair cut. It looks like he isn't an athlete, but a web hacker.

You've clearly never hung out with superstars.

They are regular dudes + genetic luck + someone convinced them at just the right impressionable moment to work hard + extra luck

Of course, many of them act is if they were kings, but not all.

The problem is most people have nothing of value to say.

So Mertesacker is the Cesc replacement!

I dont understand you people. Arteta and Benny are fine. They are quality as ********ing back-ups OR starters IF you are happy with Europa League or just staying in the Prem.....They ARE NOT good enough to battle for trophies as pieces in the starting eleven. PERIOD.

lol, C'mon. Benayoun is better then most of the arsenal team now. You don't have fabregas anymore, Nasri is gone, Rosicky is injury prone and is half the player he once was.

In exception for Van Persie and Song and Walcott, Arsenal need to rebuild big time. Benayoun would be a wonderful addition. He can create from midfield and he has experience.

Ever since I have followed Arsenal, I don't recall there being this many signings in the summer.

At this point in the transfer window I am praying that the Arteta deal goes through. I will still be extremely annoyed that Arsenal didn't pay the big bucks to bring a star/superstar in but I will take what I can get and Arteta is a lot better than what we have at the moment.

"9.33pm: "A die-hard Gooner, I can't ignore the obvious signs – Arsenal are run like the Chicago Cubs of American Baseball," announces Mike Cunningham. "A club with no apparent strategy, that puts together a big, attractive entertainment package and becomes a must-go destination for any player much more interested in fame, a great experience, and millions than they are in winning silverware. The differences are only the Cubs' home ground is a dump, while the Emirates are a palace; the Cubs sign big (albeit bad) player contracts, while Arsenal are penny-pinchers. But Arsenal have a long way to go: they are only six years into matching the 111-year championship drought the Cubs currently enjoy."
