    South Korea vs. Paraguay

    Our squad has been anounced.

Goalkeepers: Lee Woon-jae (Suwon Samsung), Kim Yong-dae (Pusan I. Cons)

Defenders: Yoo Sang-chul (Yokohama, Japan), Choi Jin-cheul (Chonbuk Motors), Kim Tae-young (Chunnam Dragons), Park Jae-hong (Chonbuk Motors), Kim Jung-kyum (Chunnam Dragons)

Midfielders: Kim Nam-il (Chunnam Dragons), Lee Eul-yong (FC Seoul), Song Chong-gug (Feyenoord, Netherlands), Lee Kwang-woo (Daejon Citizen), Lee Young-pyo (PSV, Netherlands), Park Jin-sup (Ulsan Hyundai), Lee Kwan-woo (Daejon Citizen)

Forwards: Ahn Jung-hwan (Yokohama, Japan), Seol Ki-hyeon (Anderlecht, Belgium), Kim Dae-ui (Suwon Samsung), Chung Kyung-ho (Ulsan Hyundai), Kim Eun-jung (FC Seoul)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not bad. Coach Park said that he will use two fowards up front, so it maybe 3-4-1-2 format or 4-4-2 (which Park uses often). I don't know what our NT will use.

Paraguay also announced its squad, but star players like Carlos Gammara (Inter Milan), Jose Cardozo (Toluca), Roque Santa Cruz (Bayern Munich) etc. are not included.

    Any thoughts?

I hope to see a convincing win at home against a team without its star players, but when has that happened lately ?

My wish : a convincing 2 goal win against a soild South American team.

What will probably happen: A tie

Worse case scenraio: We lose by 2 or 3, then all hell breaks loose. KFA gets desperate and lures Guus back with a ridiculous $5,000,000 yearly salary + incentives + total control to leave PSV. He turns them down and the whole nation goes nuts. He loses the name on Gwangju's stadium, Korean Air revokes his feee flights (probably expired by now anyways) and that university that gave him a doctorate takes it back. The following aftermath results in a environment that no foreign coach wants to touch with a ten foot stick, threby having the KFA hire Cha Beum Kun. He'll get us into Germany 2006, but can't advance past the 1st round with a 5-0 thumping by oh I don't know (insert European country here). He gets kicked to the curb, the team comes home and Ahn Jung Hwan defects to Japan to escape the wrath of Korean females. Baseball is now the unidsputed king of sports in Korea.

What are that chances of THAT happening ? Hehe...I have too much time on my hands today.

I hope I get to catch it with my Dish Network Korean channels (MBC, KBS World, SBS, Arirang TV), but I doubt it.

They need to show more football and less dramas. Everyone and their mother has already seen "Love Story", "autumn whatever" and the likes. More football Goddammit !!!

LOL. Who the hell is Lee Kwang-woo..? I guess Lee Kwan-woo has either 1. two different names or 2. Lee Kwan-woo has a twin who also plays for Daejeon that also plays for the NATS.

The funniest thing is that I could see this actually happening. As much as I would love to see Hiddink back, it would be in his wisest interest to not come back and stay a hero forever. We all know how Koreans react. If Hiddink came back and failed then all the lovefest we had with him would be forgotten and people would be calling for his head. :D

I don't think Ahn has to worry about angry female fans though. I was at Seongnam vs. Yokohama game last Wednesday and there were so many females wetting themselves whenever Ahn was visable. Never mind that he was playing for a Japanese team. Those females wouldn't care if Korea got knocked out of the WC b/c Ahn once again misses a crucial penalty.

    1 - 0 Paraguay
my mind is convinced that we will lose, i mean c'mon we couldnt beat the Maldives, we should have won that ,say..even without any coach

the goal in my hipathetic imagination,
a paraguayan fw passes right through Yoo and Yoo punches him on the nose and is awarded a red card and Paraguay is awarded a penalty and lee woon jae makes a save but couldnt stop the rebound and the goal goes in!!!! WOOHOO

    i hope we win =)

    MBC will broadcast LIVE!

Internet will be the best choice for those who are not in Korea.

Park should make most of those two full backs-Lee and Song in order to adopt a 4-4-2 playing system, otherwise it's not gonna make any difference to Mr. Coelno's return to the 3-4-3 system which Hiddink used to use.

Paraguay is getting ready an Alternative team to present in Bolivian Altitude (3600 mts above sea level) this team will move first scale to sucre and then move on to La Paz. The team being presented in Korea should be the base for that quali game. Six days later Paraguay plays Argentina in Buenos Aires at Sea Level. So, the historic players will be getting ready for that game.
I hope we can assemble a competitive team, I wish it even was the team that is going to represent us in the Olympics. But as I could tell, the mix that is in its way to Korea is even a more mature team.
    Good luck to both teams.

Park Joo Young will get a call up at just 19 years of age. I may not be right but I understand Park pips Lee Dong Gook by a couple of months in becoming South Korea's youngest NT player.

nice job by coach Park. Park Joo Young might have talent but he is the one who couldnt even make the team in youth team and olympic squad and now he's awarded to NT.

Nope, that honor goes to Ko Jong-su who made an appearance at 17 years against Norway I think in 1996. He edged out Cha Bum-geun who did the same at 17 years but a little more months.

hell, who would have thought the Korean national team for 2002 WC would not have Ko Jong-soo or Lee Dong-guk? Unimaginable lol

As for Paraguay, I think they'll beat us by 1 goal to 0. South Korea might dominate, but I think we'll be firing blanks again.

Korean Time: 4/28, 19:00, Incheon Munhak Worldcup Stadium.

our 'coach' Park experessed that he will use 4-4-2 (yeah..he always like to use 4 back system)

Defenser 4 will be: Lee Young Pyo-Kim Tae Young-Choi Jin Chul-Song Chong Guk
Midfielder 4 will be: Seol Ki Hyeon-Lee Eul Yong-Kim Nam Il- Chung Kyung Ho
Attacker 2 will be: Ahn Jung Hwan-Yoo Sang Chul

I really hope Yoo can do something. He did play striker when he was playing for Ulsan Hyundai. I remeber he scored some goals. he may play under Ahn Jung Hwan, to play supporting striker. But, please...Yoo, don't attempt to shoot 'home-run balls'

Thanks. You guys must be really short of strikers, with Yoo playing up front.

Anyway I'm looking forward to the match.
