I figure we don't need threads for each round, but if we get close, we can always separate out the gameday threads.

Round 2 @ Scunthorpe United: The tie will take place between Tuesday August 23rd and Thursday August 25th - details tbc.

Record @ Glanford Park: 1-1-4 all time, including our last loss in 2009 in a Championship fixture.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Forest away isn't a bad draw at all for us. Shteve's team have had a pretty stuttering start so far. Although I'll be interested to see how they get on against Fat Sam's West Ham (hey that rhymes) tomorrow.

No real big teams drawn against each other though.

1-0 against Nottm Forest right now.

McLoven scored for Newcastle with an assist from Marveaux. Ben Arfa set it up for Marveaux to cross it in.

2-1 now. McLoven with the second from the spot.

    Captain Colo saves the day!

Or, as I wrote on Twitter: Squidward to Sideshow Bob for the win!

GOOOOAAAL! Captain Colo indeed. In stoppage time of extra time! Sounds like a great game, too bad it wasn't televised.

Edit: 4-3 final with Coloccini getting a game winning header assisted by Obertan at the death.

Thanks. I was actually able to see them on TV on Fox Soccer Report too.

From what I saw and have heard it sounds like Marveaux played well and put in some good crosses. Definitely think he should start Saturday over Gutierrez. I'm tired of seeing Jonas beat two players and then lose the ball or put in a terrible cross. He's got moves but his decision making and final ball is very lacking.

From what I've seen and read lately, I think Marveaux, Jonas and Ben Arfa might be our best attack trio out of the midfield, with Obertan subbing in for any one of them.

That and apparently Abeid can be Tiote cover during AFCON?! Would make me very happy if that worked out.

    I would play this way:

    ----------Ba/Best
    ------------------Ben Arfa
    Marveaux-Cabaye-Tiote-Jonas/Obertan

I don't fancy Raylor at left back without Jonas infront of him. Marveaux and Obertan aren't up to much in terms of defensive responsibility.
