I don't know what to make of this. It will be easier to see our yanks abroad, but the SPL is... not what it once was.

Couple more Americans and Thierry Henry and it will be at MLS level.

    Why Rangers instead of Fulham?

    Who's next?

Maybe they'll kick down some $$$ from their RBS account for Brekken Shea?

Please, no. Shea going to the SPL would be the death knell of his career.

Weren't the rumors that Edu was on his way out? He needs to be, anyway. This isn't a bad move for Bocanegra, and it's a good move for Bedoya. Rangers, the new Fulham.

But what are we supposed to call them? Fulhamerica rolled right off the tongue. Yankgers? Glasgamerica? Ramerica? This sucks.

Why would Bocanegra leave a good club in France which he was captaining for the SPL?

Wow, this was a little unexpected... I'm guessing that Bocanegra figured his days at St Etienne were numbered.

The SPL sucks. I'd rate higher an American MLS defender that is doing well in MLS over any defender on an Old Firm team that is "dominating" the rest of SPL competition.

because there is a good young talent playing left back that needs to play and that the center back position is crowded.
But I agree that SPL is not the best solution for him.

he would be great in the SPL. He and Edu can resume the box.

Getting a three-year deal at a likely higher salary at 32 is hard to pass up, I imagine.

Totally. Not everyone gets to have one last big new contract at 32. And I'm sure he knows it.

This, and the Rangers have a very high chance of winning the league and playing in the champions league next year. I'd like to see this happen with Edu, Boca and Bedoya starting.

All things considered, I think this is a good move.

at this point he's not going to get any better. he's 32. As long as he plays each week and stays fit.

If he signed with chelsea and became a starter would he be that much of a better player for the nats?

I don't disagree with your point, but I will say that it will be better for the Nats if Rangers play Boca at CB rather than LB (where he had been playing in France). Given our lack of depth at CB and emerging prospects at LB, we will need Boca to at least be a top four CB for us come 2014 and the best way to do that is to play CB for whatever club he's on.

As a USA fan I understand your point, but that is none of the Rangers organization business, Rangers will play him where they need him or where they think he will do best, and we can not hate on Bocanegra for doing what is best for Bocanegra and going for a bigger payday that what he would get in France.

Remember Club career should always come first.
