I don't see much chance of Arsenal's clean sheet mini streak making it past this match. I don't think Liverpool are as good as some in the deluded media but they should be able to score in this one. I don't think Wenger can keep our usual formation unless he is willing to put players in positions they will be uncomfortable at so I think a reversion to a 442 is possible. So we could see this:
    [LINEUP-4-4-2]Chamakh,RVP,Arshavin,Frimpong,Ramsey,Walcott,Sagna,Vermaelen,Koscielny,Jenkinson,Szczesny[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
Subs: Fabianski, Squillaci, Miquel, Lansbury, Miyaichi, ASQOC, Bendtner (assuming he hasn't left by then)

God if that starting XI wasn't bad that bench is a joke for any Prem match let alone one against a decent Liverpool. :( Given the players available, I'd rather see Chamakh benched with either ASQOC or Ryo replacing him. I can't see either of them looking worse than Chamakh. That way we'd at least have a really pacy counter threat from a front three of RVP, the Chamakh replacement, and Theo. This would also allow the team to keep its normal formation with Arshavin being just as useless in the midfield three as the little mozart has been.

I don't think Wenger would be crazy enough to put Vermaelen at LB and bring Squillaci in at CB because of Carroll's obvious aerial threat and the tricky Suarez's ability to turn defenders inside out. With the guys Liverpool is likely to play, they will also be a real threat from any set piece near our box which is pretty worrisome with Frimpong and Jenkinson starting and likely to give away more free kicks than normal. I'd take a draw now if it was on offer because of the missing injured and transferred players and lack of transfers to replace them.

I think we will squeeze out a draw.

    Chesney

    Sagna -- TV5 -- Kos -- Jenkinson

    Frimpong -- Rosicky -- Ramsey

    Theo -- RvP -- AA23

I like Jenkinson a lot. Awkward but solid. We can do this guys.

The back 4 have held up well over the last 2 games but the midfield had more holes in it than swiss cheese, and that was with Song. Liverpool will target Jenkinson and Frimpong is not ready for a match of this level. I just don't see how we will keep them from scoring with 6 of our outfielders having no clue about positioning or pressing, and we don't really look capable of outscoring them either.

I made that comment in the Udi match thread. Jenkinson doesn't seem to move like a footballer. Doesn't mean he can't play, just looks uncomfortable while playing.

Rosicky is likely out for this one according to most of the stuff I've read.

agree that draw is the likely outcome; only way we win is if it's some kind of circus and we pull some clever play to win 3-2 on a gifted pk or something like that. otherwise, i'm feeling 1-1 or worse, 1-2, with Liverpool's attackers creating too many opportunities for us to defend. RVP must find the back of the net. Anyone know why Chamakh looks like a lost puppy dog out there? Doubt we keep a clean sheet, but would be great confidence for defense if we do. Tommy V seems to be bringing some order to the back line and thankfully some height to the box. Hope he stays healthy.

I predict a great game from Frimpong! That may be his coming out party. He remind me so much a young Michael Essien during his Lyon days. I have high hopes and expectations for him.

Right on! Because our current austerity measures have brought the depth and quality we've all been hoping for. They pay for the tix. Let em chant.

I get the reason why people chant BUT the people you are chanting AT are not the ones on the field. The sheer stupidity of people sometimes.

If you really want to be effective go demonstrate outside the AFC Corporate offices. or outside Gazidis' home. What the fuhk have Frimpong, TV5 or Scneiszy done to deserve a chant to spend money?

    People are stupid

To be fair, usually when they chant, its directed towards the Club/Board seats or outside the stadium. Rarely have I seen the group face the field doing it.

How does it help create an atmosphere conducive to winning? I know where it's coming from.

I think they're asking the same question re: our transfer policies (or lack thereof).

I'm not saying it's an intelligent thing to do or that it creates a supportive atmosphere for the team to play in, but I bet you they get much more attention doing it in front of 60,000 at the Emirates than if 100 of em showed up outside the corporate offices and chanted the same thing. We all know where they are coming from and most of us on this board don't spend anywhere near as much as they do supporting the team. Sorry, rant over!

The " current austerity measures" may be why the very same fans can enjoy the amenities of a brand new stadium!
