Please earn your nickname of "The Don" and seize control of this team ASAP. Give Andrew 10 bucks for his trouble.

With the Galaxy signing Keane and the Fire letting go Pappa, it has become apparent that this league has an agenda that does not include the Fire. Or else our owner is the dumber brother to Mike Ashley. This is the end of the line for my interest in the Fire or MLS.

No matter how much I dislike the current "operater" ,I still prefer to have him then have garber any closer to this team then he already is.

    Sorry did I miss something?

Pappa is still on the Fire roster. Apparently at training today as well...

There are rumors that he's being sold to FC Twente.

Let's not go all Mel Gibson. It isn't 1999, the league isn't moving the chess pieces any more.

Bingo. Thank God for the Cubs, because they keep the Fire from being the largest embarrassment to professional sports in Chicago.
The owner is a douchebag jagoff and needs to go ASAP. If not willingly, then...

Serouosly? It is pretty well known that things are tilted towards New York and LA (not Chivas) for DP players. Don't believe me. just compare DP destinations over the years.

A reasonable person might allow as how the PLAYERS involved in these deals often care about where they go and it's not so difficult to grasp that foreign players might not really *get* that the USA is more than NY and LA.

There's a built in slant there that has nothing to do with the league.

Also, Keane said he was sold on LA by Beckham while they were training at Tottenham. Not much anyone can do there.

We should be able to recruit from Poland and Mexico pretty well. Even more so if we get some club leadership that isn't anti-Polish. I mean what happened with Franek and Krol can't be good for the club's reputation.

Sorry to say, I don't think Krol was any good. Neither was Umanzor but seems like many on the message boards put him on a pedestal because he got up in the S8 Capo stand one day (because he was serving a suspension for being an idiot and headbutting an opponent in the previous match) or because he's Polish. He should not be a martyr for "good players the Fire got rid of".

Frankowski's another matter but the love for Krol astonishes me sometimes.

Sorry if you were talking more about the "anti-Polish" aspect, had to say my peace regarding Krol's supposed godlike status for some. Guy wasn't good and seemed a loose cannon (in a bad way). Polish fans shouldn't feel that way though...guy played 19 of 30 regular season games, had more than his chance, was on loan and didn't do enough to extend the loan or have the Fire buy him. Its soccer, its a business, it was good business to push him back to Poland. When he got back Jagiellonia sent him to the bottom table team and last I checked he's playing for a recently promoted team...In Poland.

Say what you want about personnel decisions but I was a fan of his release...They made the right choice there.

Well, obviously, I disagree on what he brought to the table and his release. The S8 capo stand thing doesn't affect my opinion one way or the other. You are being very fair in that he had more time than Franek to show what he could bring to the table, but it is because of what I saw as his contribution in that time that he had that I thought that overall, he was a good, dependable defender. Hothead? For the sake of argument, let's agree on that, but isn't that something we need right about now? A lil' bit of that hard-nosed "Chicago Way?" As long as the guy can earn his check, which I thought that Krol did, someone like that can be an asset, and not be a liability (see: Herron).
If any Polish players (hell, anyone) still want to play specifically for the Fire, God bless 'em is all that I have to say.

Completely disagree with your assessment of Krol. He was definitely a cheap, solid left back who, yes, was clearly frustrated with his treatment from CDLC and rightly so. I've never seen anyone put him on a pedestal beyond that.
