Well, you'll be lucky to see more than the janitors in Dallas tonight, given the game is in Mex City.
It was very painful, but they tried to climb back into it before the bullpen gave it up all over again. I'm feeling good about the new kids the M's have now for the next few years- but dear god did that hurt last night. What hurts worse is I forgot to record the Sounders game
There's more than one article that suggests that Toronto BJs and Seattle Ms should rotate one of their home series to be played in Vancouver, who would probably beat them both in attendance for those games.
Also how about the fact that Communicaciones isn't the most high profile team in the world..... wouldn't be surprised to see better attendance for Herediano, and GREAT attendance for Monterrey...
I highly doubt that the average Sounders fan percieves any differences between Communicaciones and Heradiano; these teams are both unknown Latin American teams, and it's unlikely that Heradiano is the major attraction that Comm. isn't. With that being said, the attendance should improve since the Mariners will either be on the road or in the offseason by the time the Sounders host their next CCL games.
I think there was more time to sell tickets for the Preliminary Round game. I also think people might have not gone to the Sounders game because of they didn't want to deal with the added potential traffic and parking congestion due to the Mariners game. Although I had no issues parking in my usual spot which is free, and actually closer to Safeco than CLink. Since there will be a longer lead up to the next home game, I think the Sounders FO can push it and sell more tickets.
Well, I don't buy this excuse either. During the San Francisco game, we were given the option (which I accepted) to buy 4 tickets (CCL prelims + group stage) instead of just the prelim games. So if we're talking of lead times, Communicaciones game has longer lead times than the San Francisco game. Just like I said, do you think the Guatemalan champs is a lower profile than the Panaman runner ups? Actually, I took the bus last Tuesday because I thought my favorite parking spot would increase the prices again. I guess I was wrong.
Hello to the newbie (CCL wise) OP. 10k for CCL is fantastic, don't kid yourself. These games are: 1) Midweek 2) Versus teams and players no one has heard of (outside hard core) 3) Are usually not included in the normal season ticket pack (though some were in the past) 4) Are usually more expensive than normal MLS matches, so that hurts walk up. 5) In group, the early games aren't perceived as that important. The game against the Mexican side, or the last home CCL Group match if you need points, will be better attended (but maybe not by much).
I looked up prices for the Sounders CCL game and they are far lower then for a league game. Also someone stated in another thread that tickets for Colorado in an area of the park were $15, normally $20.
My regular season tickets cost $40/gm. The same seat in CCL cost me $18. I refuse to give TicketMaster my money, so I deal direct with my ticket agent or walk to the stadium when buying tickets for USOC or CCL games.
Well, in a way, yes. There is only 1 of them versus 3 home games in the group stage. And the team has most the season to promote it, versus a few weeks for the group stage games.
Not everybody uses that option just because it is there. Especially non season ticket holders who might go. I think the longer lead in time does help. Is it the only factor? no. I never claimed it was either. I park for free on the street. I walk a little bit but I am young and actually enjoy the little walk, I didn't pay attention to parking prices at all.
