We have officially opened membership registration for SAFC USA! To become an official member of our supporters group, simply fill out the registration form and that’s it. Best of all, it’s free! We have a lot of great ideas in store for the future, but the first step is to find out how many supporters there are actually in the United States. So spread the word!

We have also assembled a membership map that will be updated with city locations of all members as they join. This map can always be found on our membership page on our official website. Thanks for all of your support so far!

There are two of us here in Indy. My mate however doesn't do much on the computer, so I can't get him to join on here. I have another mate who is a Spurs fan, but says if they sell Niko to Sunderland he will also follow Sunderland. I've tried to make him see the error of his Spurs ways. Not even the riot in Tottenham can sway him, alas!

I love Sunderland! They're definitely my 2nd favorite English club (if that's allowed ;)). Seb's goal last week was amazing. I was at the pub here in Seattle at 7 AM to watch that match...definitely worth it.

Looking forward this Saturday when they kick Newcastle's @$$!!!:D

I'm just hoping to find a good stream somewhere. It doesn't look like FoxSoccer.tv has it listed on their schedule at this point.

ESPN3 will be streaming it live if you have a participating ISP. ;)

I would like to cast my vote for the blue shield (#4). I love the how we could incorporate red white AND blue into the retro badge, and the SAFCSA black cat. You were right, Nathan, that black cat is awesome!

To be honest, I think we should leave the badge and crest alone........Its their team and their city and country......I think we should put up the Sunderland crest with the England and American flag crossed behind it, as in we support SAFC

While I do agree with you here, it just won't be very feasible in the long run. Right now we are small and nobody really cares about what we do, but as we grow there would be some form of legality arising out of the use of the official club crest. This would be particularly tricky if we try to develop shirts, scarves, etc...

Hope that helps explain the rationale behind our actions. :)

Re: Vote for the official logo of SAFC USA

I just think it would be naive to take their badge and crest and Americanize it......There is a history behind those items and there should be some respect given, is all. To be honest, I can see it being taken the wrong way, I think some more research and some across the pond advice before going forward might be a good idea. ;)

OK, own up - who's the Sunlun fan in Cheyenne, WY? I thought I was the only one out here!

Following the Lads for 12+ years now. I've been to that preseason match in North Carolina some years back, and a fistful of matches in England, including Michael Proctor's sparkling performance against Charlton. Keep the faith!

New to the site, living over in Charlotte, NC now supporting the lads from over the pond.

As usual Sun'land doing it the HARD way, but would we expect anything less?

We'll be fine, theres some good potential in that squad.

I support the Black Cats from Chicago, IL. It's nice to see I'm not the only one in the midwest!

This place seems to have died a death, anyone still running this. The webpage doesn't work.

Anyway, Mackem native, transplanted in South Florida. Never seen another Sunderland fan here apart from one lad who lived in Miami and has since moved up to Ohio.

This forum is dead. Us Jozy fanboys have to unite and revive it.

I think with Jozy likely making an appearance-hopefully we will find out for sure by next week, the Sunderland thread from the US will be alive and well going forward.

What a great move by Sunderland. Of course they were smart and had Claudio Reyna (2001-2003 with 3 goals as a center mid) on their team years ago and now with Jozy they will be rewarded over and over this coming season and beyond.

I am very happy as well to see Jozy hopefully ending up here back in the Prem. Now if Sunderland was really smart, they'd make a play for Donovan too, --wishful thinking..

Congrats if all goes well next week to Jozy and SAFC!!

    OK...
Seeing as the last attempt died a death... here goes.
A friend of mind, originally from the Sunderland area, now Ohio, via Miami is making the push to finally put together an official supporters association and to officially be recognized by the club. In order for this to happen we need to have a constitution and voted leadership etc etc.

He doesn't tend to do message boards so I said I'd volenteer to spread the work. We only have a facebook page right now but (a working) website etc will be coming.
The Association is open to all North American based fans. The purpose is to bring together 'the lads over here'

So here goes... I hand over to Derek Aspinall.........

There has long since been a following of Sunderland Association Football Club (SAFC) in the New World. Supporters Associations have come and gone but have now returned with a vengeance! Sunderland AFC North America Supporters Association (NASA) was founded in 2013 to unite the supporters of Sunderland Football Club scattered across North America. In joining together, their goal is to spread the passion for SAFC this side of the Atlantic.

We're in the recruitment phase and plans are afoot to be recognized by our club as an official Supporters Association. Watch this space!

How can you call yourself a supporter of Sunderland if you do not know anything about the northeast of England, its culture, people, history, insecurities, hopelessness, griminess and grittiness. Funny to hear about Starbucks sipping Seattle supporters of Sunderland what a contrast. If they only knew what it looked like back in the ole northeast of England.

Who are you directing your vitriol towards? I know plenty about the NorthEast of England.

Well, I guess this will be my home because I guess the official Sunderland board doesn't allow registration with American ISP's or e-mail accounts due to excessive spamming and trolling.
