    - It looks like Mark has been marginalized because of that controversy over his last call up. CSKA told Pinto Duran that he was injured...Borghi talked to him and he said he wasn't fit. Then he played that weekend. Obviously the main complaint is with the team, but it seems that Borghi feels Mark was dishonest with him too and isn't committed to the NT

    - As for Droguett, he's an offensive option much like Orellana, Guitierrez, Munoz, Hernandez......He can't do what Jean does, and surely Borghi likes the other options better...also, its 90% a European based nomina

Hopefully Mark will come back, but if not the Jean replacement might come from Valdes or Mena down the road

Quiero ver a Pinilla jugar algun dia.

I suppose that the main cause was that he undergo a hip surgery at the first half of May. The controversy caused by the March call up would be surely resolved if he was able to play at Copa.
BTW from what I'm remembering, the March call-up for the games at March 26th and 29th came quite early and he was surely unavailable that moment (the cited article was from March 12th). He had not trained for at least 10 days due to some pain and even was on medical tests in Germany which failed to come with any diagnosis so there was no set date of his return to full trainings. Than he have come as a sub at 74 minute of Europa League match at Porto at March 17th - and it was a huge surprise for CSKA fans. Possibly the pain had been eased the day before the match or he decided to overcome it because of the importance of the match. The next match for CSKA he played at April 3rd, after the NT matches he missed. Unfortunately at the end of the April the pain have been returned and he went to USA to undergo the hip surgery eventually.
The current prognosis is that Mark have to return to the full training at the middle of September.

yeah, well it seems like they've totally mishandled his rehab, although as a player who lives on the injured list it may not totally be CSKA's fault.

Still, the point is that it was a FIFA date, he was nominated, but he wasn't allowed to go due to injury....then he played that same weekend. Enough of a reason for Chile's federation to complain to FIFA and for the coach to be upset with the player if he feels that he was lied to.....difficult situation for Mark anyways, i'm sure he wants to play for Chile but can't exactly refuse to go on if his team asks him to

I want to emphasise that at March 12th nobody had known when he will able to play, and not even at March 16th was known that he will be able to play next day, when he came in for last 15 minutes eventually.

if they put him in the lineup there was obviously a chance that he could play, which is contrary to a declaration that he can't.

about the France game, i'm more or less happy with the way the team played.

obviously with Alexis its a different team, although its troubling to see Isla struggle so much without him. Also, I think Borghi has done a good job of putting Alexis where he needs to be, and not losing him on the flanks.

Its hard to judge Cordova's performance because of the way the second half was played, but a post and a golazo are never a bad thing. Alternativa absoluta

Seymour also did a good job subbing in for Medel, but he's clearly a notch or two below. Hopefully in time the transition will be more seemless

As for Vidal, he's a monster in the middle and obviously doesn't work well on the left midfield. As for his role in the backline, i'd also love to see Medel get a chance, but he hasn't defrauded too much. its not his natural position, and he does generate some mistakes, but he's not below the usual level of Contreras or Ponce.

We NEED to find subs for Jean and Jara (besides Vidal).......Mark needs to come back, there are few others.

Overall a good game against a good team, i have faith that we'll cruise through qualifying....

I'm close to predicting a win over Argentina in BA in fact

    Re: Ficha del partido

With this tie Chile should surly, in the next ranking, be at least 10th or stay put at 11th.

About the game Ponce made a few errors but I am not going to harp on that as he made plays to move the ball out of defensive zone and is aware of his surroundings while doing so however the left side needs to be address and I want to see Drougett come thru if Bose is not available during the WCQ games as he was key as well for the 2010 WCQ, now I wonder if Cercerda can be called as well or Valdes once more. Bravo made good saves on the shots made outside the six yard box as most of the goals latley were from inside the goalie box and incoming from the air. Jimenez out for Sanchez pretty much concretes to me that Alexis should be on the right wing of Valdivia, Jimenez missed many shots during his time with Chile dating back a few years back now while Cordova has waited forever and looks to have more accuracy with the shot. With Seymour's hustle helping the defense on Contreras side and putting the pressure on the French offense they weren't able to get pass France tried the other side of the field more often where they were more successful in gettting forward and in the box more.

Chile in general looked good but I would not be so over confident we need to play one game at a time one half at a time looking to far ahead will get us in trouble.

Looking forward to the next game against Mexico with a change in the current selection that were taken to France like not calling up Jimenez and bring Paredes instead.
