I don't think he came back to ecuador by choice if I recall he fell out of the starting lineup for those big clubs and then at one point want even part of the bench... Jose Valencia had potential but somehow he lost it.

Jefferson Hurtado left Barcelona through a mutual agreement with the institution. I hope a good team picks this kid up, we can't him go to waist. What's ********ed up is that now he can't play in the campeonato since he's already had some games with Barcelona this year. I hope he doesn't loose himself.

Hey guys, glad to see some familiar posters still posting and in their same style as always...

I haven't been here in ages .. literally months! I have been staying on top of Ecuadorian soccer though, but not much of the league, today I caught the clasico online and let me say that Barcelona played well, and deserved to win, but futbol isnt about deserving, the tie is not totally worthless as we tied emelec at their home. Let's go Barcelona!!! I am glad to see that the institution is finally cleaning up and looking positive.

If you follow Barcelona SC you will be following one of the best clubs in Ecuador. Barcelona S.C. has the most championships in the country and by far the most loved team in the country with 75% fan base in Ecuador. Barcelona S.C. has been in a slump the past few years, but the club has been making head way since last year and things are looking positive again and the team is doing well right now. Barcelona is PASSION! Barcelonistas are not just guayaquilenos but they are quitenos, manabitas, esmeraldenos, cuencanos, etc, etc, we are all Ecuador and abroad !!!

If you follow Barcelona, you will come to know the passion that is el IDOLO del ECUADOR.

So either it is a big rumor or some speculation, but one of facebook's ecuafutbol threads says that Edson Montaño is Barcelona's new signing for 2012. If so, wow!!! Although I wish he stays in Europe. I'm on hs personal facebook page but no sign of him updating any status to it.

Its no rumor. Both his agent and the very own Montano confirmed it.. I too wish he stayed in Europe but unfortunately he has received no playing time. Heck, he doesn't even make the bench. The guys is still young (20 yrs old) so he'll still have chances to go to Europe if he performs well. I think he has a ton of talent, not very technical but a lot of room for improvement and growth. What he needs in order to develop is get playing time.

yo dude it's everywhere. that's a BIG time signing. The kid's got a ton of potential even though his World Cup wasn't the best. He can easily be the next great striker in the country. That's a huge surprise to me, I didn't think he'd be back in Ecuador anytime soon. I hope to God he does well for his own sake b/c some players rot in Barcelona, but lately it seems like they're focusing on their youth system which is a dramatic change from past dirigencias. If the transfer goes through good luck to him.

So far from the midfield up it has been great, Diaz, Luguercio and Mina have been awesome. Especially Mina this guy is on fire.

I am still worried a bit about the defense, it has been looking shaky at times, I'm not completely convinced by the 3-5-2, I would prefer a 4-4-2

First game is now history, 3-1 over Cuenca, I for one liked what I saw, Diaz again was amazing and he seems to compliment Narciso's style, I cant wait for Oyola to be able to play as a national, Nazareno to comeback.

I Like the youngster Grueso a lot, I see what they hype was about, wow between him, Jose Ayovi and Edson Montano, Zubeldia has a dilema on which youngster to start.
Anyway, let's see how we perform away from home this weekend in Ambato.

Edson Montano isn't considered a juvenil anymore. Same with players like Bryan de La Torre and Cristian Cruz. Those were all U-20 NT players, who don't qualify to play as juvniles this year. Gruezo and Jose Ayovi are gonna be in tough competition for that spot.

They're playing with a sub 19 this year. The FEF is trying to prepare for next year's U-20 youth tournament. In past seasons clubs have played with a sub 20, but those that are 20-or will be turning 20 later this year-wont be eligible for the tournament seeing as how they'll be 21 or about to be. I even think that Jose Ayovi isn't eligible.
