Really? Looks like Yelldell hasn't put too good a foot forward so far.

They just went out and took a 19-yo for emegency coverage.

"David Yelldell, the club's other keeper, was replaced by Giefer for the Bundesliga opener after an error-strewn display in the side's German Cup first round exit to Dynamo Dresden last month."

I meant speed although I guess I worded it wrongly. If you read the rest of the post I mention he is quicker than Torres(both physically and mentally). That was really my point.

    here
JMO, but we've got a whole lot of time until 2014. Who knows who will pop up at the forward spot between now and then? And, Agudelo isn't so far ahead of his peers that we're writing his name in the 2014 line up. To me, treat Agudelo in accord when where he is in the actual pecking order, and he'll get plenty of chances to get seasoned. But, in this game, in a 4-2-3-1, I like Buddle as the 1 more than JA.

I'll take my chances with Agudelo.

I mean at the end of the day the result does not matter to me. I want to see if we play good as team again, if specific responsibilities have been given to our midfielders again, if the up and coming players can show something against decent competition.

I wish we had Jozy on Mwanga for this match. I don't like Juan for Mex (Too weak) and I don't like Buddle (Isn't international quality). It's a toss up. Either will be that effective. Both can finish if you put it on a platter.

This. Mexico are a superior team and will most likely win but what matters to me is how we play and who can play well vs better competition. To be honest, I'd rather us play "well / improved" and lose 3-2 than just bunker all day, score on a counter and squeek out a 1-0 win without showing much of anything.

Well... giving up 3 goals is usually not a sign that you're playing particularly well.

How about Dolo at CB? He is quick enough to handle wingers so he should be able to handle Mexico's offense. Although, we need someone marking Dos Santos or we will see a repeat of last game.

Ives is spreading the news (or rumor) that Ream is not suiting for the game. No word if it is due to injury

Man, I hope John and Gonzalez don't get hammered like Ream has.

Ream will rebound tonight. All the Robbie Rogers haters will be surprised too. I'm not sure why so many fans dislike Rogers. Whenever he gets time out there, he has a knack for opening things up a bit. He is fast too.

Gonzalez wasn’t dogged/written off last year as being too slow, clumsy, poor with the ball?
The little praise John got last year for his stellar performances was always qualified with “yea but he’s injury prone..”
Why would you think anyone would remain silent if either of those players form dips materially?
Im not here to be an apologist for those who DO hate Ream..
I just wanna point out that there is a wide DMZ in between the two warring camps of love and hate for the kid.

Those two have not played the level of competition Ream has. I don't think they are miles ahead of Ream, so, they probably will make a mistake that will be punished just like Ream did.

No matter how good you are going from the MLS primarily to the int'l level is a shock especially for a defender.

I just hope when this happens that you guys don't overreact.

In simple terms John and Gonzalez(well actually in that Brazil game he got eaten up..) have yet to be exposed.

If the only option is Orozco and Pearce, would anyone rather see a midfielder drop back into a CB role? If so, why?

Personally, I'd be ok with Clark in the middle but I don't think he's a huge improvement over either of those two players.

disagree with you there. rogers can get through the tight spots in the defense, but he can't finish. just trying to work with what we have tonight.

    thanks

I see your point..but (and I speak for myself only) when I think of Reams "exposures" my mind flashes to many , MANY plays...and in 99% of those flashbacks Ream is wearing a NYRB jersey.
But thats for another thread. Shame he wont be playing today. Anyone get any additional info? Injured?

"Ream was sent home apparently because when Jurgen saw him actually play CB, Jurgen realized he had made a grave error"

I am joking so dont hang me for that. This basically means that Bocanegra-Clark will be the pairing. I am not too excited about our defense today.
