Curious to see how this pans out. Clearly he's a physical specimen but he's awfully young. One for the future, I suppose, and given his game there's really no one better to learn from than Drogba, but I have my doubts.
PSG lost the home opener to Lorient 1-0. Got outplayed by some nifty one touch passing in the first half and i fast forwarded through the 2nd. PSG looked like they could really use Joe Cole
No Charity on todays match with the amount of yellow cards tossed out. Citeh managed to bottle it....again and the scum got their pattented 93rd minute goal. A lot of ebb and flow to the match but I sortta lost interest mid way through the second half. Oh well, I think Manccini was at his best with "Moon River" Sorry mustta been his dad.
Mancini has also confirmed that Adebayor and Bellamy must go or face being in the reserves all season. Pass and Pass.
Mancini is either going to win the league or get fired by October. Not sure which, but if it was even odds, I take the latter. Both players are good enough to play in the EPL, but the club that could use both (Spurs) won't ever be allowed to get one. De Gea looked a bit shaky on that one goal. I think he's a good keeper, but might take a bit and on that stage it will be tough.
If they sell Modric my guess is the money will go towards Adebayor and they'll just use Huddlestone and Palacios in the CM between Bale and Lennon. Then they'd probably play VdV just ahead of them in a CF role with Adebayor up front, which in turn would allow them to sell Crouch/Dafoe.
Palacios is rumored to be out today. Not sure. I think he's brain dead, irregardless of his talents. VDV can't be long for that world if they do sell Modric (and I don't think they will this window).
Fantastic. Zieh den Bayern die Lederhosen aus, die Lederhosen aus, die Lederhosen aus ... Btw watched a little bit of the Borussia D vs Hamburg game. Mario Goetze is a special player.
Der Kaiser is labeling him as "Germany's Messi". That 1st half of the Dortmund-Hamburg game was truly amazing.
I think every team that plays United for the next month will be popping 25-yard shots after that goal (though Dzeko hit it pretty well). I imagine that can only build or destroy The Hair's confidence. He did have a nice save on a difficult shot in the second half though. Also, I'm a little afraid of United's front 4 after their second goal. A lot of interchangeable parts who can pass and move around.
They do flood the penalty area with scummy poeple don't they? If the attack breaks down they just give away the foul so they can get back. The pace on Dzeko's shot wiped out the keeper and the bounce was perfect even if the keeper had got down before the ball hit him on the back of the head on the way out.
Don't be so surprised. Teams should have a 'shoot-on-sight' policy against the Mancs this season, especially without a good screen in front of the defence.
De Gea also looked pretty indecisive on the first goal. I imagine he'll give up quite a few goals on crosses/set pieces.
Don't apologize to me. Bayern didn't deserve it and at this rate I have no problem if they lose games, its worse to carry on deluded that there are no big problems at the club so things like this are a blessing in disguise. I wouldn't mind if Dortmund win the title again, they play the best football afterall.
What's your opinion of them though? I'm no Bayern fan, and I don't follow the German league very much, but from what I see in their squad is tons of young talent and potential, mixed with the need to dump some more of the older and less productive players, then re-invest what they get from that into grabbing some more younger world class talent. I mean players like Olic, Tymoshchuk, Ribery, and Van Buyten are guys that seemingly need to go, right? Bayern's a very attractive destination for pretty much all Germans, and also for Scandinavian, Balkan, and Eastern European players, and there are plenty of young superstars who fit that criteria.
Internal conflicts, stubborn management, unaddressed issues, transfer choices over the years result in same rinse and repeat scenarios. Probably the most talented squad since the 2001 team but things like that hold them back. Time will tell whether the same will be true with Heynckes in charge. Huge defensive issues as well, players like Van Buyten and Badstuber not good enough but constantly trusted. Tymo, Olic and Ribery are all great.
I know Tymoshchuk was statistically great last year but I just brought it up since he's old haha...also I thought Bayern fans hated Oliclol like I said I don't follow the German league but I hear plenty of "Olic isn't good enough" chirps lol.
Olic is a huge fan favorite, exactly for the reasons Kuyt is here. He is actually the player most like Dirk. Was brilliant in his first season and missed last year due to injuries unfortunately.
Looking forward to watching Bilbo this season http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/08/08/marcelo-bielsa-tactics-athletic-bilbao/
