Dude, I have read about four of your posts in this thread and it is enough for me to realize you have some sort of Freudian love for Mexico. Why are you so butthurt about Mexico? Uruguay beat Mexico fair and square in the WC so let it go. Do I think Uruguay is better than Mexico? No I don't. Do I think they are worse than Mexico? No I don't. Mexico played very well and arguably had better scoring opportunities against Uruguay in the WC. If they played 10 times I would say it would be pretty close to 5-5.

Then you come at us with your "GIANT" comment.....Really? You went there? Why exactly are you guys "GIANTS"??????? Because you won a WC in 1732? Get over yourself and your team, go change your tampon, and come back when you are a little less emotional about hating Mexico.

PS. I am NOT saying Mexico is a "GIANT" and can beat anyone...nowhere close...just pointing out some delusional comments.

True, but it is also true that a game comes completely diferent to anyone, if your opponent scores before you. Both of those situations came long before anyone your team had, and lots before your late goal which gave you the victory that day. In fact, the only time in that WC, that spain was 1 goal down from the begining, despite all the posession your team had on the field for the rest of the game, which does not mean dominion, your team was incapable of turning the score around and you ended up losing that game, against Switzerland, whom really were who dominated spain that day, as they did in that game what fits them the best and they succeeded in it, while spain had the ball but was unable to transform that posession in 1 miserable goal. In the Confed cup, the year before, the same thing happened to your team when the mighty USA, scored first, you ended up losing the game. ;)

In regards to Paraguay's style, we agree. It is boring and extremely, ultra defensive, but can`t deny its efectivity. Tell that to Brazil in the recent Copa América, whom had posession almost 90 % of the 120 minutes of their game with extra time added (the other 10 % of the time the ball wasn`t even being played) against them, who ended being defeated by this "boring" Paraguay, on the pk's.:p

Hey it takes a bit of luck to win the world cup, but i wanted chile to defeat Brazil. I cannot hate on chile, they played with courage, I had hoped they beat brazil, but perhaps I think they succumbed to being nervous against a big team like brazil.

Also I wanted chile to win so we can play Brazil, because they talked so much crap once Spain had the #1 fifa ranking. Honestly I feel Brazil do not have the defense of some of their south american counter parts, and we would of destroyed them, and this constant babble of "hexa champions", I wanted Brazil to be put in their place.

Brazil, and Argentina will not always be #1, and south american teams have to start believing that.

That was actually for me 1 thought of comfort, despite losing the final. Shutting up all those CONMEBOL fanboys talking trash about Europe not being able to compete outside of Europe. Day in day out, together with African fan boys who also started to make fun of European teams. Then all CONMEBOL teams survived the group phase and they really started to become self confident, which was quite amusing. Week later, Spain took out Paraguay, Germany trashed Argentina and Holland took out Brazil. Uruguay being the only CONMEBOL team over 8 half final spots (WC 2006 and WC 2010) with the 7 other being for UEFA. Now the argument becomes popular that Europe can not win in SA. If there is one thing I want, it is a Brazil-Holland quarter final in 2014 and win it. Brazilians feel so entitled on the trophy that seeing those faces getting a reality check is pretty funny. :D

The brazilians talked so much gabarge as soon as spain won the euros, saying that, argentina or brazil would of easily won euro 2008.

I kinda feel the dutch took some of Spain's glory, in defeating them. I wish we had done it, but we didn't. The fact remains, spain, germany, or netherlands will win the 2014 world cup, the display of football at the copa america was pathetic.

Hard to understand all the hostility. Chile is a beautiful country with a very fine team. We Spaniards have much in common with our South American brothers, but I guess a little family rivalry is OK, yes? :)

You're right to a degree. Chile's pressure did not allow Spain to settle into its rhythm of ball possession, which logically affected their ability to "attack" the way they are accustomed.

Chile was a tough nut to crack, for sure, making it difficult for Spain to penetrate, but crack it the Spaniards did. Champions find ways to win, even if they are thrown off their game and not able to play their best and preferred brand of futbol. There are many ways to skin a cat, as they say. The final score of a match tells us all we need to know.

By the way, your argument that del Bosque replaced a forward with a "defensive midfielder" reveals your lack of understanding regarding the Spanish team. Cesc Fabregas, captain of Arsenal, who made the pass to Iniesta, who scored the goal in the final against Netherlands to win the World Cup? "Defensive midfielder"? In which universe?

You surely meant Xabi Alonso, or Javi Martinez. They are examples of "defensive midfielders". But they did not come in to replace an out-of-form forward such as Fernando Torres.

Spain's ability to shut down teams in the WC always had me feeling they would win late. Maybe "dominate" is too strong a word. Their margin of victory was always slim, but they always seemed to be in control of their matches.

That ball possession style of play wears opponents down mentally as well as physically. It forces teams to adopt a defensive attitude and relegates them to hoping for a defensive lapse by the Spaniards off a deep pass, a breakaway (like Robbens), whereas Spain continually mounts attack after attack, eventually finding the crack in the defense that allows them to score.

The "Brazil syndrome" is a reality. The Spanish coaches/managers from the senior team on down to the youth teams place an emphasis on humility and respect for all opponents. The veteran players have their heads on straight. The worry is the younger players who know only success and have not had the years of heartbreak and failure that the Xavi's, Puyol's, and Casillas's experienced before the 2008 Euro.

What some fanatics fail to realize is that I put Spain in there, coz its not today people starting looking up to them as favs....Every single competition I can think of, Spain was always slated as one of the favs & ALWAYS stroke bookmakers a big blow by folding when it mattered!!!! So yes from the perspective of countless decades of expectation, SPAIN IS OVERRATED! From the perspective of the past 2 years, they are not!...but hey, if u want to see just the immediate & ignore history, be my guest & "fanatize" (if that even existed) away!

I remember listening to a British commentator pick Spain as one of the favorites to win the 1982 World Cup (Spain was the host nation). Clearly the gentleman had no idea what he was talking about as Spain, unfortunately, had one of its worst teams ever.

So, yes, ignorance by the media often leads to over-hyping a team. But most fans know the real deal. Some fans get carried away, of course. Go from one extreme (cynicism) to the other (we are invincible).

The best tact is to remain humble, enjoy your time of glory, and keep hoping that you have the right people in place to keep nurturing and teaching the young talented players to play as a TEAM and to ALWAYS RESPECT the opponent.

If the World Cup was right now or next summer, Brazil and Argentina wouldn't be my favourites either, even with home advantage, but a lot can happen in 3 years. And it's definitely not a fact yet ;)

Seriously?? Spain is overrated?! A country that is dominating in levels is overrated? If any of you seriously believe that Spain is overrated then you are in serious denial.

I say Italy is the most overrated. Followed by Turkey, Portugal, England, the USA, and Mexico.

A country now becoming overrated and is a shadow of it's former self? Argentina.

The fact that people failed to even put them in the poll proves that they are the most overrated team in world football.
