Thoughts on the upgraded streaming service?

Just tested the new system out by watching a little bit of the rugby match this afternoon -- and it looks pretty good. Like the old system, it takes a minute to get the stream up to full speed, but then the picture looked very nice on my T1 work connection. I like that you can change the picture bit rate via the on screen menu - which will come in handy when I'm watching on my home DSL.

Still bummed about the extra $5 a month, but fingers crossed that the quality goes up a bit.

Commentary on the Hull-Blackpool match was from Sky Sports. Is that new? I Didn't watch much Championship last year but I recall generic solo commentators. On the downside, there were no graphics.

Yeah, they used the Sky Sports audio on top of League provided video (sans Sky graphics and ads). The Football League/media partner really should provide a score/time bug. I do like the score/stats graphic feature within FoxSoccer.tv though.

That's really weird because I think that FS+ used the usual 1 commentator and had the score in the upper left hand corner. I could be wrong as the commentator might have been the Sky Sports commentator. I didn't catch a name.

I'm a first time subscriber of FS.tv, and I'm really enjoying it. The only thing I don't like is the lack of score bug. The quality has been every bit as good on my cable connection. Hopefully, once the Premier League and Champions League starts up we'll have score bugs of some kind because it's hard to pick up on a match in the middle of it and not know the score or time.

If it holds up over the course of the season, it'll be well worth the $160 I paid for it.

I'm using my wireless home network, and I haven't had a problem at all watching both live matches and on-demand.

I'm using Windows Vista, Firefox 5 on a pretty crappy DSL wired connection and it works fine. The video is not perfect on this machine but that's down to said crappy DSL. On T1 it's flawless video. Are your browsers and flash player up to date?

I subscribe to extra packages on DirecTV that provide FSC & FS+. I'd like to see them give us "big spenders" some deal so we could get the few matches that aren't on the TV channels. Maybe they could even give us a deal so we could get TV matches when away from home.

I tried sending this via the "Contact Us" form on FoxSoccer.tv, but that seems to be broken.

Use flashscore.com, livescore.com, uefa.com, etc. to find the score unless you need to stay away from the score of other games.

Streams pretty well over 3G on my Droid X, a little better than the old version.

    DVR quality is real good.

still skeptical of how it'll look on Saturday, though. Good thing they offer the free trial.

I'd like to see a 4-5Mbps option, but the 2.4 looks remarkably better than what I expected. I'll probably be continuing on with this one.

Anyone care to comment on the DVR situation? Have many do they offer - all the games or just a select few? I am thinking of purchasing this service mainly to watch Aston Villa matches but I'm not sure if they broadcast every Villa match, either live or on demand. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Well you won't see Villa on demand this week, since they're now on ESPN2. But I believe anytime they are not on ESPN, they should show up in the archive the same day (or at midnight for FSC?). So if the Villa have an FS+ or FoxSoccer.tv slot then you'll be able to see them live or on demand through FoxSoccer.tv.

The "in-game highlights" option is a nice touch.

If I can run it on my old Vista machine on a slow DSL line without any problems... I'm guessing it's your computer.

Not super relevant here - but I'm displaying in full screen on my 40" at 1080p (only my display output obviously) via my Logitech Revue and having no issues.

    Did you disable hardware acceleration?

should have clarified that - the Google TV is outputting to my TV at 1080p, the video is only at whatever resolution FSTV is providing it at.

I connect my laptop, which runs XP to the TV, and I don't have any problems going full screen. It really all depends on your internet settings, hard drive space, and video card. The next computer I get is going to have a super video card, so I can display video that much better since I watch all my TV on the computer.
