The ONLY time we need to put a game south is if we face Canada.
Two stadiums up for it. IMO
Robertson stadium. I absolutely love the size of that stadium a little over 30k is awesome for a USA national match. Though if it happens during college football season...

Then we'll have to use HDC I guess.

I also think either the Arizona stadium (Arizona Wildcats) I think the capacity is around 55k, or I guess where the Cardinals play... But I like the Wildcat stadium because of the slightly smaller capacity.

Or Albulquerque stadium... Grass field and the size is pretty nice, 42k

True, but neither one is particularly encouraging for getting a pro-US atmosphere. Still, I think Columbus is in El Tri's heads.

Grant Wahl said Livestrong will get a USA vs. Mexico qualifier one day. It's small enough that they can arrange for tickets to mostly go to USA supporter groups and SKC season ticket holders. Mexico fans will still no doubt get some tickets, but it'll be like Columbus, roughly a 2 to 1 advantage for USA fans.

I would like that game to stay in Columbus. US has had success in Columbus, why change that?

I definitely feel like Columbus has declined, the American support is a little less every time. Not sure who will get

But in 2013 there will be SSS's in Columbus, LA, Dallas, Chicago, Denver, SLC, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Kansas City and Houston. Throw in Seattle, DC, Boston and whatever Southern option they go with, and suddenly it's a lot harder to game the system and get on the ticket lists at the stadiums like it was in previous cycles.

Like in 09, despite the ESPN Deported reporting it was obvious that the American home match against Mexico would be in Columbus. But in 2013, that will not be obvious at all.

love the post. I totally agree.

put the game in Nome Alaska and El Tri fans will make the trek. Geography and demographics of the hosting city means NOTHING.

I'll take it one step further....now that we have MLS teams within driving distance of eachother why not open up presales to full season ticket holders of neighboring clubs as well?

PPl park? open up sales to DC ,RB, and NE full season ticket holders ( i say PPL b/c its the smallest of the bunch and could fill up faster...RBA could even be filled up with pro US fans if this theory is done right)

Seattle? open up sales to Portland full season ticket holders and vice versa

like USACLASH said, if you're willing to invest in full season tickets then your chances of being a US fan increases

You sir, have just brought a brilliant idea up. Now of course some fans (Portland and Seattle) don't get along great, but I think they could survive one game together. But having it in DC, Philly, NYC. Right there you are opening it up to three clubs. That is sure to get plenty of home support. Loud home support at that.

A US / Mexico game in the NYC, DC, or Philly area would have many Mexico fans. When Mexico played Ecuador in NYC a few months ago, there were more Mexico fans. In DC, hosting El Salvador or Jamaica has many of their fans, just imagine Mexico.
