So he moved or is that another Hernandez? I was wondering how that would work. If a player moved and transferred from one mls da to another and was signed to a homegrown contract, would the new mls team have to compensate the old team? I wonder if the trading of homegrown rights is related to this.
Also if they weren't at the Milk Cup, I wonder if Jose Villareal and Javan Torre would've been invited? They're from the South Bay area and the Galaxy has a partnership with the club that U-18 team was before joining Pateadores, South Bay Force. Wouldn't be surprised if Galaxy is aligning themselves with Arsenal either with Mendiola, Arriola, and Velasquez playing in this tourney. Here's an article about the Galaxy and South Bay Force partnership (Werdman posted in Milk Cup thread) and Klein specifically mentions forming alliances with Southern California clubs. http://palosverdes.patch.com/announ...lub-gains-partnership-with-la-galaxy-adidas-4
Nice. We were wondering when the southern california mls clubs were going to align themselves with some of the non-MLS da clubs to concentrate some of that talent. As we can see the galaxy have been proactive in establishing their brand as an end to professional contracts in south cali. I wonder if chivas is also working on partnerships or plan to do it alone? The landscape is a'changin'.
OK, I was at this game. Latin Lover is not far off in his analysis, except the references to bad calls, the dive (Mario took an elbow in the back of the head, correct call made here, and I say that as a non-Mario fan, he generally appears to lack the work ethic required at this level). Couple of comments: Nate Smith- the kind of player you love to hate unless he is on your team, tough competitor. Grady Howe- thought he was one of the best Galaxy players on the field (holding mid) Chivas #7- excellent player-right mid, led several attacks down the side resulting in several quality crosses and I believe one that resulted in the Chivas goal. Overall- Chivas slow start, but definitely in this game for the last 30, several quality chances to tie it up. It was a really good game, lots of intensity from both sides, looks like a great rivalry shaping up for this DA season. LA will be tough to beat, period.
Howe has a very good work ethic, reads the game fairly well. He has a technical flaw, in that he takes too long to release the ball from his foot. I hope he can work on that, otherwise defenders will strip the ball from him.
Thanks, That's what I heard, although I was told that the Galaxy defence stood up really well to a very feisty and fired up Chivas front line. There failure to convert was generally because of the pressure and challenge of the Galaxy back line. Even the goal (it was #7 getting past the left back) still got a break with the Galaxy center back slipping when trying to cover two players. How did Christian Carrillo look, I thought he suppose to be the top player in Chivas' system? He had 16 goals this year for the u16s.
He scored so I hope he looked good. Is he a us citizen or no? He has been tearing up the u16s so looks ripe for more looks at the u18 da level and maybe even reserve games.
ChrisTian Carillo did not score. It was Kevin de la Torre leader in goals. Carillo is a US citizen. What's going on with all this citizenship bullshit? Looks like you guys are jealous of this Mexican talent (I.e mendiola) Galaxys all stars got together because of the embarrassment at the world cup so they needed to make a team to win something. Galaxy has a good team mendiola being the star of it. Tilley is a solid defender but he needs to add more talent to his game.
Hold up, what forum are we in right now? Say it with me, USA Youth Nats. Someone got their panties in a bunch. I was just inquiring. Sorry for getting the person who scored wrong, jesh. And I'm not mad at all about the Mexican players. Comp is always good, brings the best out of people. Some will end up playing for the red white and blue and some for the green. Good times are coming for both sides of the rivalry.
For Christian chivas #19 being A 15 year old he had a great game.kevin de la torre #9 being a 95 has scored 5 goals in this tournament ( so far) Bradenton resident. Also top scorer (3 goals 2 assists in 2 games) only one who scored against france in the "mondial minimes" in montaigu france. US U16 participated in this tournament played against portugal japan uruguay and france. Paul arriola zach pfeffer also participated in France. Paul 2 goals in 4 games pfeffer 0.
I agree here. Good times aRe coming for both sides should be a good future coming ahead. The only thing te US needs is a real scorer. A "chicharito, a David villa a Luis Suarez a natural goal scorer"
It seems you are sour grapes a bit about your chives players not getting a sniff of the world cup. Some might even say that they had an advantage due to Cabrera and his appreciation for Latino talent. The only world cup disappointment for these boys would have been if they spent all that time in residency and didn't make the final roster. Even then it would not be an embarrassment. I appreciate a rivalry, I appreciate hating your rival, but you are saying some ridiculous things that all points to a sore loser.
I think the rivalry is a good thing as it pushes both teams. Both teams have very good young players of all origins. Let's not let the rivalry spill into hatred, just good discussion. Problem with the residency is that Cabrera is obviously going to pick players who are in front of him all the time. Better the devil you know. At the moment I believe Galaxy have the edge because of a better defense than Chivas. Going forward they are quite a match for each other. Although the additions of the so called "stars" might shift that more in favor of Galaxy.
Exactly. Both teams have a squad and it will be great to see how they develop over the next couple years. This will be great, no matter what side you are on. So cal soccer is going to keep making waves.
Agreed, two good teams that need to be respectful of each other. Barcelona and real Madrid hate each other when they play , but if you ask the top brass at real Madrid, they will admit that Barcelona is better right now. That is respect. To bad these games have had no coverage, I would have really enjoyed watching quite a few of these match ups.
I don't understand why there isn't any video footage either. Should be on ESPN and we should have had something on youtube. Anyone seen anything?
There was the left full back from UFC, the center mid from Cosmos West. And couple other kids I didnt recognise from the academy roster.
