With most managerial changes, the new manager selects his own captain. Many including me see Boca's days numbered as captain, and while he has a few more years of international play ahead perhaps, I can not see him captaining us in 2014. So who do you guys see with the responsibility. Does Landon finally get the job full time (they do have history).

Landon Donovan has to be captain. I've been saying this now at least since 2009, maybe before that.

I don't really care as long as that player is as close to a lock starter as we have. One reason why I wasn't crazy about Boca is that it was not always clear to me that he should be a lock starter.

Agreed at least since the emergence of Demeritt, in 09.

Dempsey? It would give the team a different look and feel, that's for sure.

Donovan, for as long as he's a lock or near-lock starter, which is still the foreseeable future.

Definately Michael Bradley. That would send one weird message to the team!

Donovan- to get every last ounce of effort and focus out of him in his last cycle.

Probably LD, but it would be interesting if he chose Bradley or Jones :D

He gets the "hind tit" armband. It's a pink ribbon he'll wear around the crown of his head as he sits on the bench in Mexico.

    Obviously Adu.

But seriously, I think it has to be either Dolo or Donovan.

Or Dempsey, in all seriousness. Dempsey's probably gonna be captain of Fulham in a couple of years anyway.

I thought about including him, but he seems to me to be more of a lead by example, put your head down and get shit done type of guy, rather than a vocal leader/calming influence. I wouldn't be against him getting a shot though.

It wouldn't be that weird. He's a little young for it and a bit quiet (seeming anyway) and maybe a little too fiery, like Dempsey (although I already said I like the Dempsey idea).
See, Bob and Michael are two different people. They can fire Bob without firing his son (or kicking him off the team in his case).

Who's this "Klinnsman" you speak of? I look forward to getting acquainted with him over course of this next cycle. I'm sure he'll make threadly appearances on BS.

You need to pick someone who will be a lock both now and through the Cup and who has a decent history with the team and who is a hard worker. Really, Howard, Donovan and Dempsey right now are the only ones that seem to fit that criteria. Donovan is Klinsi's boy, so that sounds logical, but I wouldn't be surprised to see either of the other two. Jones is new to the team, Bradley a bit over-emotional, Holden has hardly been healthy enough to suit up. Our forwards are a mess, our defense is in flux. Of course, there could be a wild card player that we don't see as a lock that Klinsi is crazy about. Hell, maybe next year the whole board is sick to death of new captain Mo Edu. Remember, whatever changes he brings, he will have his favorites too...every coach does.

Donovan has been carrying the US team almost every tournament, he should be the next captain of the team.

Dolo would be a great pick if he were a likely candidate to play all the way through 2014. As it stands, he's a guy who we're going to keep calling for as long as his legs last, which will be somewhere between maybe a year and maybe three years, we'll see...

We just need him to borrow Terrell Owens' hyperbaric chamber.
