Lalas was just on the halftime show of the Chivas v. Juve match and he suggested that it's Jurgen as well. He cited the fact that the entire scope of US soccer (men's side) has been taking hits in the last year and a half and that the USSF needs "a rock star" to recharge and set a new course.
Posted this in another similar thread, too. Seems like they should all be combined. MODS? Everyone seems to be focused on one guy. What if it's two? What if they bring in Klinsmann as Technical Director and Lippi as coach? That way you'd get the coaching prowess and experience of Lippi with Klinsmann's knowledge of American soccer. Just a thought.
I actually liked Lalas's statements...Minus the Rock Star quote, which is true by the way. The quote about being a brand is true. Lalas is great. I think he nailed it.
For technical organization alone and solid strategy, I don't know why we aren't on our hands and knees begging Carlo Ancelotti to become the coach. The man was fired stupidly by Chelsea and he is nothing short of a brilliant italian mind. Throw a ton of money at him and give him all authority he wants. If i hear it's Jurgen frekkin Klinnsman i'm going to cut my face off. Theres a reason he's unemployeed.
I don't blame you, I freakin hate that guy. It hurt even more when I realized that i agreed with what he said, minus the "rock start" crap. We do need someone to set the course for all of the levels of the program. If the U17's aren't getting results and improving, then when those guys are above the U23 level, we still won't get results.
Ironically, if he put it on PPV, we'd probably be able to afford Ancellotti. But it would be too late!!! It's like an O. Henry story!!
I truly hate myself... Let's see what Jurgen does with this program. I feel bad for Michael Bradley.... European coaches DO NOT play unplayed club players. they just don't... he better start kicking and scratching for playing time in Ashton villa or he'll be washing Jermaine Jones's shoes before and after matches.
