Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? Not shocked, but... awaiting further confirmation. EDIT: USSoccer.com just confirmed it. Done deal. And have to start speculating: so who is our coach? Are we going interim in-house (in other words, Mike Burns) for the next set of friendlies, or is the coaching search in full swing already? If this is all true, I hope the new coach has as many of these upcoming friendlies as possible to take a good hard look at his player pool and try out some preferred player combinations. We've got just about a year before the games begin to count again, and the more opportunities he has for looks, the better. As for Bob, I'm calling his last cycle a relative success, and in any case I think he's served with a great deal of dignity. This shouldn't be a black mark on him, but in any case I think this was the right move to make, simply because it's time for us to move on.
Re: speechless Speechless, indeed. UNC fired Butch Davis yesterday. USSF fires Bradley today. Wacky sports week for me.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? And when we do qualify, I am sure you and a select few will find a way to give bob credit for it.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? I'd like to thank Bob for his hard work that brought us second place in the Confed Cup and the winning of our WC group. Back to back cycles just never work. All I hope is we get a better coach and let's look beyond MLS please.
Yep, BigSoccer crashed as I tried to post my comment the first time. It's been awhile since I agreed with Sunil Gulati, but, today I do. Bob did do some great things for the team, however, it was time for him to go and change the course for the team as it was obvious we were not heading in the right direction.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? As far as MLS goes, I'd be happy with Kreis and that's just about it.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? News travels fast. Took me like 5 mins to get back on to BigSoccer...
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? Andres Cantor saying that Sunil is going to introduce someone tomorrow? Either Klinsmann or just leave it interim I guess.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? Respect to Bob for his accomplishments as coach. I think it is time for him to go (was right after the WC, actually), but he does deserve credit for a solid, if not overwhelming, tenure as USMNT coach. Now, on to speculation about his replacement. This is just one very ill-informed man's shortlist: Klinsman (obviously) Guardiola (Has said he only wants to coach Barca another year or two and then take on a new challenge. Prob a long shot, but it's nice to dream, right?) darkhorse that I really kinda like: Jason Kreis
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? Considering they're announcing another announcement set for tomorrow, I'd say they do. I HOPE they do... I'd be ok with someone like Kreis, but that's just a patch job to salvage the cycle. I'm hoping for Bielsa. If it's Klinsmann, I have mixed feelings. If it's Bruce again (I'll be surprised) or Rongen I'll be disappointed. If they do leave it "interim," that could literally mean Mike Burns. I hope it doesn't come to the interim thing in any case; this next set of friendlies is as ideal a time-frame for the actual full-time replacement to get a good first look at his player pool and test out his preferred player combinations, with time to go back to the drawing board if/when some of those don't work out.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? There's a line at the end of the press release about an announcement tomorrow. I think Cantor is extrapolating.
Re: Bradley Out as USMNT Coach? (The Burns reference was clever). Bielsa just got hired at Bilbao, I thought.
