Wow, what a game...thanks to Santos for making that really entertaining

Seems like our offense is pretty much set. Hopefully Alex Silva can make us that much better defensively.

It is still difficult to watch Deivid. He improved a bit after that ridiculous goal he missed, but still...

Yeah, but it's not like we have a better option :(

I have no idea how good Jael is, but his nickname is awful and that's not a good indication :D.

Maybe Luxa can try Drogbinha there.

What a game! Really entertaining. Horrible defenses in both teams though:p

    Ronaldinho is the king! :D

If he is a ex-player I wonder what the other players in Serie A are...

Hopefully Alex Silva will fix some things in the backline. I also think we missed Airton a lot. The only midfielder that did something defensively today was Willians, the other ones were just staring and waiting to get the ball at their feet to make a move.

Airton hasn't been that good actually when he played, many missed passes and so. But defensively he covers a lot of important spaces, he is not a easy guy to play against.

Tomorrow I have to get my hands on some tickets for the game against Gremio!

I'll second that and add and repeat: Unarguably the best game of the year. In fact could even be the best game of the last 5 years. A game that will enter into history of Futebol Brasileiro.
On one side, practically the entire front line of the Brasilian National Team. On the other side, Ronaldinho Gaucho and his bonde.
Neymar's goal, perhaps the goal of the year which will be shown today around the world.
    Ronaldinho's Barca days returned.
What a shame I had to watch it in my Chicago bedroom and not at Barrill 8000 in Recreio.
Meu querido Mengao now a major contender for the title!!

Good to hear and see.........about time. So where have you been when he has been playing crap? Did you lose your voice - or were you one of the many booing him recently?!

He is only the top goal scorer in the Brasileirao, not to mention one of the top assisters as well.
Yes Ronaldinho was booed in one game against Botagofo and I was there in Engenhao. Ok, so he didn't dazzle and pizzaz and score and drible around 10 defenders, but that was the only game he was booed.
    AINT being bood now.

Since the Brasileirão started, he had maybe ONE poor game. If you consider every game he plays below his Barcelona days as crap, then maybe you are right. He's not going to consistently put out those performances any more, but he still can be a really good player. He went into Vila Belmiro to take on the next biggest Brazilian star(s) who happen to be the Libertadores champions and commanded a comeback after trailing 3-0.

Yesterday was simply a sign of that he is still capable of producing magic that he did at Barcelona. Honestly, at Flamengo, he has been better than he had been at Milan, when people were begging for him to get called up.

I totally agree. I had the game on DVR and got a hint that something intersting happened, but that game was incredible. Time to figure out how to burn DVDs.:p Great summary IVO- I can't think of many better games over the last 10 years.

What are the odds of that happening with Luxemburgo and Muricy?

Most people see the scoreline, then look at the league and claim it was poor defending. There may have been moments in which defending wasn't good, but let's give credit to the individual attackers like Neymar and Ronaldinho. How many defenders would have been able to stop either of them that night? Not many.

Let's also remember Muricy is a defensive mastermind. He came to Santos when their defense was struggling and instantly turned it into a brick wall. Santos hardly conceded goals in the Libertadores.

That's more like the old Ronaldinho i used to love. If he keeps up that level of form, he'll be a cert to command a place in the NT.

Neymar's goal was just sensational, Santos really do have a rare and superb talent at their disposal. I don't blame the president for his desperate attemtps to keep him in Brazil.

Game of the last 5 years quite comfortably, then followed by last season's Sao Paulo-Corinthians thriller.

Yes, but that's the point: he won't keep up that level of form because he hasn't for years.

I agree. Sometimes players' invention is too good for opponents to stop. Neymar's goal - THAT goal was unstoppable.

Just got back from the Flamengo vs Gremio game - 2-0 with Ronaldinho getting the second. Not the best game but the atmosphere was great. Special thanks to old_carioca and kingkong for the info in getting to the match. Good luck for the rest of the season and guess I'm a Flamengo fan now - well the team I'll look out for in Brazil at least!

I was at the game yesterday too. My first game at Engenhão. The game was ok and the atmosphere was great, it's no Maracana but still fine. It's really easy to get to Engenhão actually, park in Norte Shopping and then just a 10 min walk.

Ronaldinho did well, 1 goal and 1 assist. Then he celebrated the goal in front of us:D

It's hilarious reading the comments in other threads about Ronaldinho. What more does the guy have to do in order to get some respect?

To be honest, his performance last night was not on the same level as the past two. However, he still managed to be decisive -- pass on our only goal, other creative passes for missed chances and even held up the ball brilliantly towards the end of the game.

    Craque! :D

This team may end up being better than the 2009 team. I'm not sure if we are going to win the title, but I sure hope we make it to the Libertadores next year. This team is starting to show signs of being special and Alex Silva hasn't even debuted yet. Let's hope Corinthians starts dropping points.
