Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player im still puzzled by HG signings. I understand if they play with the actual academy team, but can the Fire sign any player from any of their "affiliated" teams? BTW, great signing.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player Notably lacking in human talent, the Chicago Fire look to sign Elfs. In a bold move the Chicago Fire have signed the #1 rated elf in the southern Mirkwood region, hoping to add agility and a bit of magic in the scoring department. "Lye nuquernuva sen e dagor" said the young forward.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player A 17 year old who's 6' 185 is definitely not Sarachanesque. This is a big deal people, the young man scores a lot of goals. He would have been the man (young man) for this last US U-17 team if not for injury. See story below: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-17-M...ake-Down-Mexico-at-Raymond-James-Stadium.aspx I look forward to watching him with the reserves this year, and the first team next year.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player Have any of these home grown players aside from Najar amounted to anything? If he plays one second it will be more than our other home grown player Pineda has ever has played in a real game
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player The problem with Pineda is that he plays Right Midfielder, we only use Forwards as Right Midfielders. Maybe this new kid will play Right mid for the Fire someday.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player been wondering about this for the longest. He posted on his fb page like last year that he got signed by us. Been hearing about him for awhile, ranked as one of the top American prospects. Not saying he's gonna automatically come in and haul ass but he is a VERY good prospect that I hear can come into his own and potentially challenge for first team minutes within the next 1- 2 years. Like people have been saying at the Under - 17 and other residency program teams he's done very well. As to the satellite academies, just to clarify yea starting recently MLS allowed teams to get kids from our "satellite academies" and other programs. I used to wonder why the heck we had like 6 Chicago Fire Juniors clubs all over the place. Kellen came from the Mississippi CFJ's I believe? Looks like this is gonna benefit us greatly in the long run. We'll have a large deep talent pool to pick from & raise our own players. Fun times, Kellen should be the beginning of a very good grass roots system that's been put in place over the last couple years. Congratz to Kellen! Glad he's finally about to be, officially, a first teamer!
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player Luna has played some for fcd. Bowen played for la. Agudelo plays for nyrb. White plays for dcu. I'm sure we have seen more

Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player Bill Hamid starts for DC too. I think Ethan White was a homegrown player too. In any case it's odd to expect so much out of such a young program and players.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player Did anyone else see his picture and think he might be Amado Guevara's love child?
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player Agudelo has done pretty well no? I can't speak for every team, but I just got back from watching Everton get manhandled by a bunch of Union academy players I can tell you something about those kids. Specifically: Zach Pfeffer Jim McLaughlin Christian Hernandez Hernandez scored the winning goal, and Pfeffer and (especially )McLaughlin were awesome in midfield. They both looked better than any of our CM players (by a long shot). I couldn't believe it when I heard from other union fans that they were just kids, only 16. They were carving up Everton's midfield, who were playing strong strong players, like Phil Neville, Jack Rodwell, and Johnny Heitinga.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player based on past performances in national team camps and being ranked one of the top prospects in the nation.
Re: Fire Sign Homegrown Player what Chi_town said. He has received great praise by the U17's and fans who follow US Youth. Will he pan out? I think he's got the physical tools to and his performances with the residency were good. Plus talks from the MLS U17 tournament have stated he's been playing well with the Fire's Academy.
Re: fire sign Kellen Gulley Threads merged from previous report. My take: Great signing. Gulley would have been a very high draft choice in a future draft. Anytime you can add potential blue-chip young talent without using a draft pick is a good move.
Re: fire sign Kellen Gulley Pretty athletic kid. Hopefully he wasn't just physically dominating the opponents. Glad for the signing either way.
Cross posting this here...it seems appropriate and hopefully a thread that will be long and fortuitous for us all? Fingers crossed. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ulley-gains-hard-won-lessons-loan-stint-atlan
