He already had a ton of European suitors....the move just wasn't gonna work out. (read Bshredders article he explains why)
He could get to Spain via his parents being Mexican citizens i.e. he too either has Mexican citizenship or can gain it. For those good with citizenship and EU passport laws, is this correct that he is eligible to play for a team in Spain.
Bill Hamid is starting to look like he may one day make himself into an A level player. I had been skeptical, but he appears to be an intense competitor and he is really taking advantage of having Pat Onstad as his coach. Onstad is a brutally honest guy who holds everyone around him accountable - will probably be a really good MLS head coach. Regardless - I am starting to think Hamid may one day be moving past MLS to greener pastures. He is starting to impress me that much - and I have worked hard at my skepticism. This may be the kid who rises to the top to succeed Howard at the national team level - certainly I would put him on the short list of guys under Guzan, but rising up the list with a bullet.
I'm sure Onstad has helped, but I think the change in Hamid happened even pre-Onstad. I remember there was an article (probably in the Washington Post) about how Hamid got himself into ridiculous shape in the offseason and when the DC coaches saw him he looked like a totally different player, and with a new attitude to match. I really believe the sky's the limit for him, our best GK prospect ahead of Sean Johnson and others.
Well Hamid already had interest from Celtic, and has a path to some sort of European citizenship, so he should be set to move to Europe fairly soon. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=704084

Another shut out for the young guys in the DC United defense - this one at FC Dallas. We might want to hold off on getting excited about Ethan White who is somehow struggling through his rookie year without getting punished for a lot of his mistakes. Perry Kitchen was able to put together a pretty good match tonight, but the best of the bunch was again Bill Hamid who has improved his quickness at coming out so much this season that he is forcing forwards to miss shots because he is off of his line so quickly. Okay - they aren't elite forwards - but he has improved more this season than I thought he was capable - and it is real substantive improvement to his game, not just a great save here or there. He actually reads the game more quickly than forwards and is out thinking them into positions. He still has some mistakes in him this year, but what an improvement over last year! If healthy, I have a hard time seeing how he does not make the Olympic roster.
Brek Shea scored...again. This time pure beauty: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp3PuOqra3c"]Toronto FC Vs FC Dallas 0-1 - Brek Shea Spectacular Goal - July 20 2011 - [High Quality]‏ - YouTube[/ame]
That was a great shot by Shea. Agudelo seems to be really inconsistent, I wonder if it's because he is 18?
Funny to see this comment a few days late. White's marking was soft yesterday, and he got good and punished.
Finally got a good look at Zach Pfeffer tonight. This kid looks like a player with real quality. He's calm, intelligent, and has a excellent sense of positioning. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of him.
I agree Pheffer looked good. After watching him play I don't understand why he wasn't selected to play in the Under 17 team World Cup with team USA. I think we could of used him. If he keeps playing well I think he can be a factor in the U-20 cycle for 2013. Philadelphia probably has the best young talent in the MLS in my opinion with Pheffer, Mclenerny, Mclaughlin, Hernandez, Mwanga, S.Williams, Okugo, Torres, and the Forlan brothers. All of kids are under 23 years old and when they were in the game against Real Madrid there level didn't drop. Another great thing about them is all of them are Americans except Torres. Also was very impressed with Chris Pontius of D.C. United against Everton. Had a goal and Everton simply had no answer for him, almost had a couple of goals if it wasn't for great goal keeping by Everton. I think he should be looked at with the U.S. National team especially with that Costa Rica game coming up.
Agree, they got a nice little core being built, its a shame some have seen their mins dwindle a little this year. (Mwanga and Jmack mostly, and hope Okugo can get back his pre-injury starting spot)
He lists his nationality as Mexico. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/2617...nnounces-development-academy-awards-for-2010-
First MLS goals for Luis Gil and Diego Fagundez. And what a debut for Diego as he also drew a penalty kick in his first league start. Gil: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW8PRS1L0NU"]Luis Gil's First MLS Goal‏ - YouTube[/ame] Fagundez: http://www.mlssoccer.com/videos?catid=1822&id=17962
