Disorgnized team and playing as bad as anyone has seen. Time for a change before season is over. this team is an embarrasment. Maybe time for Henry to go "French National Team" on this organization. We are lost offenisvely and suck defensively and have no bench.

Having no bench isn't his fault, that's on Soler, although I suppose buying bench players is pointless when Hans refuses to sub.

Hey, at least Backe realized his ridiculous formation wasn't working.

I'm of the opinion that at this point it's not gonna make a difference. This team is mediocre and at best we can hope for a MLS Cup run 2008 Osorio lol style. Then re evaluate at the end of the year.

I think he has to stay for the remainder of the season for this team to have any chance to do something.

I am totally on board with canning him after the season if this continues though.

We have been hurtling towards a first-round playoff exit for months now.

If we keep on playing this way, there's a real danger we might miss the playoffs altogether....

I agree. Every club in this league must deal with the salary cap. The Red Bulls have done beautifully with their acquisitions. You can no longer look at it as a problem of players, but management. It's time to bring in a coach that instills a winning attitude and team unity. Time for Backe to go. The proof lies in the red flags...

When you look at this club on paper, their record is a red flag.
When you look at Hans Backe's attitude about the US Open Cup, it's a red flag.
When you look at Backe's continued reluctance to sub, it's a red flag.
When Hans Backe refuses to sub even when down 4-0, it's a red flag.
When the club has won only 6 matches of 22, it's a red flag.
When the players are yelling at the coach, it's a red flag.
When the players are at each other in the locker room, it's a red flag.
When Ballouchy is constantly getting lots of minutes, it's a red flag.
When Herzog isn't getting chances while Agudelo struggles, it's a red flag.
When the club loses in front of their biggest season home crowd, red flag.
When you acquire a player that makes the league shudder (in DeRosario) and trade him away less than two months later, it's a red flag.
When you trade away one of the only subs you're willing to make in Austin DaLuz, it's a red flag.
When you bring 13 players to Chicago for the US Open Cup match, red flag.
When you send Mike Petke to coach the US Open Cup squad, it's a red flag.
When you throw away your opportunity for your benchers and reserves to get time through the US Open Cup, it's a red flag.
When you allow your best player, a striker, to roam all over the pitch and playing five different roles, it's a red flag.
When you constantly excuse your record based on call-ups and injuries, it's a red flag (it's a reality all managers deal with).
When he openly says in post-game interviews he doesn't really know why they're playing this way, it's a red flag.
When you throw away a solid chance at the Champion's League next year by ignoring the US Open Cup when you had just three games to hoisting it, it's a red flag.
When you are just shipping players in and out and constantly changing the squad, it's a red flag.

I'm sure there are more. Time for Backe to go.

Well thought out and nicely written. One more, tw moe,,
When your young players like Ream and Aguedello seem to be regressing right in front of your eyes, it's a red flag.
When you continualy start and play players that do not even try despite having any live bodies on the bench.

I'm not going to hate on him because when I met him he seemed like a decent guy, but I give him a D- for this season, and only Luke Rodgers keeps him from an F.

But - I'm also not sure I want him gone. We need continuity and we need for him to learn from his mistakes. I don't want to see a coaching carousel either.

    Tough choice isn't it?

On one hand, I don't think he'll get it done. On the other, we fire him now, this year and next year are shot to hell. I'd just like one year where we don't turn over half the team.

Last night's game was really a blueprint for how we are going to lose in the playoffs - faster fitter more agressive and direct team cuts to the chase and scores against our sunday stroll in the park passing around style.

The guy does have some decent excuses for our struggles - it's hard to have continuity when guys are often hurt and away on international duty. I wonder if in hindsight we'll regret the De Ro trade as Dax has looked pretty weak on the ball lately and maybe while De Ro didn't do all that much, he kept defenses a little more honest when we had two threats like that.

Many of the things I criticize him for - like juggling keepers - were reasonable decisions that fell flat.

Hopefully Albright can add some depth and push Solli into the midfield where he might be more effective.

At the end of the day, if they really wanted to do something now, they should just cut Ballouchy and save Hans from himself.

Can anyone confidently say they have a clue what exactly Hans is trying to accomplish with this club? I fail to see and logic in trading DeRo for Dax, especially after such a short period of time. Makes no sense. Neither do Hans comments praising Dax, while he didn't have much positive to say about DeRo.

The USOC? WTF? Is he trying to show his players winning doesn't matter? Hard to instill a winning philosophy when you leave every starter, and well as the head coach at home. How can that come across well to the players. And then to follow that up with the completely uninspired play we've seen since?

Using a 3rd DP spot on a gk which moves slower than my grandma? I have no clue what sort of vision Hans has for this club. It's taking a nose dive.

It's ok because Emirates Cup is coming up --and we all know that's the only thing that matters. =/

Yeah, he's a super-nice guy. JCO was too, of course. I don't think there's really much of an alternative at present. Fire the All-Star Game coach? Doubt it.

Shouldn't have fired assistants preseason, either.

I agree--it was an extremely baffling way to begin the season and with hindsight looks like it was a bad omen of the things to come....

I'm curious, who do we replace him with? It's easy to yell "fire him" but at least give it some thought, who will replace him and make this team better?

    A better available coach is...........................

Didn't he say he was going to quit anyways, if the team doesn't get a MLS cup? If so, I don't see a problem.

If Hans gets fired I can't see Williams getting the job. If Soler is still in post he doesn't stand a chance. He probably fired him in the first place.

I would imagine the Red Bulls big wigs will want to hire a 'name' as manager. Someone who has been semi successful elsewhere, more than likely in Europe.

How about Colin Clarke, the current head coach of Puerto Rico Islanders and formerly coach of Dallas. He's European too!

I have seen this movie before and I am tired of watching it over and over again. If you dump Backe now we go back to square one and have to go through another rebuilding year or two. I am not sure what is going on behind closed doors. Someone on one of the blogs said that Backe has lost the team. Does anyone know for sure that is the case? I am not so sure. For me injuries, a tough schedule plus the Gold Cup have really been the cause of the team's lousy form over the last two months. If it continues to go downhill once most of the players are healthy then something will need to be done but I am not sure what and when. So like Fina, Dark Knight, and a few others I am torn.

Ag, if Hans has not lost the team and we are just this bad think of what that means.
