So good that he got beat out by a guy that couldn't find the field for DC United. Your penchant for cheering for "your guys" never ceases to amaze me. And since we're all chiming in... Natasha Kai does it for me as "best" WNT player ever.
Well, in addition to the aforementioned Venturini, Heather Mitts also deserves mention. Of the four, Solo is by far the best player. She's the best female GK in the world, hands down.
I for one am sad to see Andy go. One last time for old times sake... OH! IRO! Now how does that other chant go? Columbus re...?

I am not sure how much merit is in this but daughter indicates Rogers is contemplating going to Argentina. Sometimes her info is pretty good. Personally I would like to see him go back to Holland.
Concerned a bit about CB depth but overall I like this trade. Tchani is raw, hopefully he can become a solid player.
Like candy from a baby. I love this deal. It's unfortunate to see Andy go, but it's a great move for all parties. Can't wait to see Tchani out there.
No doubt. He lacks some perspective with his statements and some maturity with his willingness to air out his laundry. That said, it doesn't mean he isn't right about his statement though. This is the third player that has left the club that I have heard has a poor opinion on the player management that the coaches and FO do (Zayner, Lenhart and, now, Iro). If it were just his statements and not other players, they could be completely discounted, IMO.
Who cares what they say about the FO? Weve had 4 pretty damn good years of success on the pitch. If players egos get hurt in the process Im ok with that. Did Duncan, Frankie, Gino, or Guille have any parting shots? Not really. Did Ale Mo? Nope. They all understood this is how professional sports work. Its a business. Plus they are all mature adults. Not 20 year old punks who think they deserve more than they actually do.
Shocker: I am in total agreement with Crew Chuck. I've heard this "the FO guys are assh**es" line too many times from enough players now that it's hard for me to believe there isn't at least a little truth to it. But what did Iro, Zayner and Lenhart all have in common? They were all guys who were regular fixtures on this team that were comfortable in their belief that they were secure here, and suddenly found themselves on the outs. I'd expect those guys to be a little more pissed and a little more shocked. I'd rather have hard-asses in our front office than a bunch of guys who treat MLS as a "nice-guy business." Besides -- Iro's going to be playing for Toronto. A month from now, he'll be willing to give up a testicle to come back here.
If he is still advising them, he might want to wake up and realize every move they've made since they've come into existence has failed. There's no reason to think that's going to change now. You can wrap this up and drop it in the MNT forum, if you want -- why a guy coaches the home team (who always is a threat to win) to a 3rd place World Cup finish and is immediately labeled a genius is beyond me.
Hey.. it worked. Guess I neglected/ignored OU long enough. Klinnsman soured me on the 'total control' thing.. who made him think "Fuerher!" and If Iro wasnt PO'd I would be surprised and question his 'heart'. Griffit I'm neutral. But as everyone ought to know by now.. that's show-biz.
I wouldn't play Tchani at CB. He has made couple of emergency appearances at CB for TFC, but other than being big and physical, had poor marking and positioning. (Nearly cost TFC the Voyageur's Cup vs Vancouver few weeks ago) Tchani has been good at winning the ball in the mid, but terrible passes that end up giving the ball back to the other team. Still a raw talent and I think will develop into solid MLS DM but he'll require a lot of patience and I don't know if the Crew can afford to be patient with all the mistakes Tchani will make.
There is a Big Soccer perception about Iro & James & it kind of contradicts what I've heard others say. James is considered one of the fastest players on the team & apparently has great "ups." I would often hear that people would prefer Iro's height for corner kicks & they may not be aware of JJ's jumping ability. I kind of feel like a jerk for insulting Andy but he was severely lacking basic soccer skills when he got here & that may be why he why he got the "coach's award" for putting up w/ the lengthy "catch-up" sessions.
Seriously guys? I never got the fascination with Iro. He was tall. Whoopee! He has a heavy touch and isnt very athletic. We need to expect more from a starting center back. I liked Griffit but he couldnt seem to crack the starting lineup and that is with Rogers playing like crapola. So adios. This trade seems like a great deal for us. Two stiffs for a the #2 pick in last years draft. Heck, I cant wait to see the kid play!
This trade has Paul Mariner's finger prints all over it, and he is the one that is quoted on how he followed Iro and wanted him. Winter is IMO a terrible Coach and I don't think he knows enough about MLS to make this trade. Remember Klingy was just hired to find a coach.
They were all three marginal players at best who thought they should play more? Let's be honest with ourselves, none of these guys are really worth getting worked up in a frenzy about.
