Whats your favorite style newsouth ? Selfish players trying to make everything on their own, stalling and faking injuries like Brazil ?

Edit : Police : Nagasato is supposed to be a world class striker, she scored a lot of goals in Champions League last year, leading her team to the final

    The problem with newsouth is...

Its actually everyone else who provides the receptive audience. If you can fix that, you will fix newsouth too.

No, its just because our strikers choke in front of the goal. As soon as they have a clear shot they panic and screw up. It's a mental thing. Also because coaches keep calling up failures like Maeda who aren't international quality. I'm hoping Miyaichi at Arsenal will be the first international quality striker that Japan produces.

Miyaichi is a real specimen, fast, strong, with sublime footwork. He seems destined to have a brighter future than Morimoto. Japan has been producing quality talents for Europe in the last few years. I'd love to see their club-level excellence manifested on the international stage at the next world cup.

I don't think any team is honestly stupid enough to try and wait till the final minutes of the game to try and score. The parity in this competition was extremely evident and "passing the ball around for 80 minutes before you try to score" was never, ever a strategy for any team.

It's funny because you root for Brazil yet Brazil tries to emulate this possession orientated style. They hold possession and then try and take on players 1v1 before passing to an open person for a scoring opportunity. Likewise, Japan holds possession, takes on players 1v1 or passes around them and then gives the ball to an open player for a scoring opportunity.

Also, I don't understand how you feel Japan just sits around and then all of a sudden around the 75' go and try and score a goal. They've outshot their opponents in every single game(Yes even against England), except the Germany game. And honestly the majority of those shots by the Germans were off set pieces considering they had 25 of them.

Japan has out-possessed every team and just about out-shot every team. Not sure where I see your argument that they sit around all game till the end before they try and score.

ForeverLost, don't even try NewSouth is arguing just for arguments sake it's best to just ignore the poster from what I've gathered from threads all over this forum. I think this game is going to be very interesting with the contrast of styles and the wonderful story lines for both teams. I want the US to win but given everything about Japan from their style of play and all that they've gone thru (losing family and friends as well as not being able to really prepare for this world cup with the earthquake & tsunami affecting the fields) that if the US loses I'd much rather it be to a team like this.

Exactly. It's become obvious to me that he doesn't want to see an Asian team recognized because his own favorite teams are not in the discussion anymore. He's not trying to find a logical explanation for his stance. He's trying to manipulate the facts to fit his own prejudice disguised as a 'position'.

Just ignore him and let the man be.

Based on what evidence? Germany? As if none of the other teams mattered?

    Japan v. New Zealand (2:1)
    Possession: 61/39
    Shots 15 to 5

    Japan v. Mexico (4:0)
    Possession: 56/44
    Shots: 14 to 9

    Japan v. England (0:2)
    Possession: 55/45
    Shots: 14 to 9

    Japan v. Germany (0:1)
    Possession: 46/54
    Shots: 9 to 23

    Japan v. Sweden (3:1)
    Possession: 60/40
    Shots: 14 to 4

As identified, and as MiguelNajdorf previously, Japan don't always play how you said. Take any single match and you will draw a false conclusion. The only thing that I see, from the data presented, is that no matter who Japan plays, no matter how much possession they have, they will likely take between 9 and 15 shots. They had more possession v. Sweden than v. Mexico, yet scored fewer. They had more possession and fewer shots v. England than v. Germany, yet won.

In actuality, looking at the information given, Japan looked like they were fortunate to beat Germany either due to luck or poor finishing.

The US, by contrast, was equal on possession time v. Brasil, and had fewer shots. Versus France, less possession time and fewer shots. Thus, if the pattern holds, Japan will have more possession and more shots.

I'm guessing that the final score will be 1-0, either way.

Pressure them on their field when they have the ball is the best way to break this, It would be excellent if more teams were capable of doing this, it would open up the women's football much more.

I was at the Italy - USA game here in Chicago, believe me, I am glad and surprised we made the final.

    Dang, I failed! :(

Happy to see Sawa, one of my favorite players of all time, in the final. I didn't think either of these teams would win the cup, looking forward to a good game. Give us 5 goals!

Come on, now, give him some credit. Who on earth would ever have thought to copy a similar but higher-quality side? That's the stuff of legends.

    France.

My teams, Brasil and France, were defeated the minute the USA gave up a hip ball to Sweden. Draw from hell when you have to get through the USA for a spot in the finals. 4 days and both are gone.

Don't mind the Japan ragging. It's nothing, just me shooting crap at guys on here, posting like they have watched Japan for years, and Japan is this "beast" (that's a word they like to call seger on the wps board) team with a 0W 30L lifetime record against the USA and Germany. Bandwagon jumping is such a good thing. There is one poster, from the WPS board, on here who did predict Japan would make it to the finals, so kudos to him.

Good. Japan wins, its for a country. USA wins, it's for the WPS. a good either way you look at it.

I'll continue to shoot cheese whiz at Police, and some of the "jump to the current winner and have a memory lapse concerning the team i picked at the beginning of the tournament" wagon riders.

In reality I'm more interested in seeing France one last time Saturday.

It's been an amazing tournament already - three of the best games in women's soccer history all on the same weekend. Going to be hard to wait until 2015.

I have. Feel free to go look up the old Nadeshiko Japan threads in the Japan forum. I predicted them being in the final as well, somewhere in one of the WWC draw threads, I think.
And I'm not the only one...

You're pretty accurate about the "crap" part, though.

The USA has a smorgus borg of forwards who will be in their mid-early 20s by 2015. Lets see if they develop that bunch. Could possibly score more goals than any team in WC history.

Not only been following Japan for years, I've been following China and the Koreas as well. It started when I watched the '99 finals. I knew the Asians had potential to be superstars in soccer with their disciplined and technical style, and not just the women either.

You, newsouth, are really coming off as a cynical loser without any common sense in this posts. I think the reason people are still entertaining your gibberish is because there's too much down time in-between games now, and you are the only troll that can help us kill time. Good work:D
