Look at the replay again. marta actualy leaps off her left leg and extends it outward - buehler did not catch her leg. Marta flopped

Martas leg is bent at the knee to get around Beuhler from behind.

It's over anyway. Brasil is in the history books as an also ran again.

None of the officials from this game should be allowed to officiate another game in the World Cup. Ever. But it won't matter. FIFA has an army of anti-American referees waiting in their place.

As a USA fan, watching the replay on ESPN (after watching earlier today), Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd could be rightly accused of repeated diving and cynical fouls. Not to mention Lloyds handball.

It's great they hung on to win, but the truth is anything Marta did with gamesmanship was easily matched by the USA.

Isn't there a bit of a feud going on between FIFA and the FA right now?

In one of these threads people wanted to see foreign-language commentary on Abby's goal. Found Arabic (I think) here:

Even in Arabic the commentators/announcers are better than the American announcers... god, hope solo is hot!

No, FA is trying to clean up FIFA a bit and attacking factions in it.
There are not an ongoing feud from FIFA as a whole, you notice that by the fact that England is still playing International soccer.

I'll just comment on one thing:

Shortly following the post-match news conferences, soccer's often bumbling governing body, FIFA, said it was because Solo went forward before the ball was struck. Replays didn't really support the argument. And, of course, Marta took advantage of the second opportunity.

    That's on espn.

So people, please STOP using the encroachment bullshit. Learn to read, get some info it's f**king 2011. The call was on Solo.

oh yea, the USA was pretending like they were injured when no one was around them, laid out until the stretcher came and then got up after two seconds lol

This post is Gold. In the Eng/France game, you saw Eng take France out of their game but didn't necessarily take them out. So, the match turned into one of their classic duels. That wasn't understood by the avg fan until you understood the history of their rivalry. France attacking, Eng playing with 4-5 injured players on the pitch but it was still a beautiful game to watch.

USA/Brasil was a nightmare. Erika playing dead, card after card, Abby and Boxx running people over at the 50, Marta turning into the match villian, excessive handballs and the list goes on. What was pretty about that? Outside of Abby's header, the Ref is the highlight of that match for me. I didnt feel anything on Dai's kick because I could see that coming a mile away. There's hope's save, that girl shouldnt be there, where is maurine or fran? Basically, you give it another ref, and it's 1-0 on an own ball. Note: USA vs Sweden wasnt a pretty match either with hip and shoulder balls.

No hating on the USA because this is their tour to win now, and hopefully it helps the WPS if they do. SBFC had 1200 attendance this weekend, so not yet.

lastly, maybe this is why pia needed all those camps to try and jell this team or get the best out of their scrappy style vs not having a pure football style of a france. who knows?

Apparently you missed the 1999 WC. Briana Scurry was way off her line when she blocked Liu Ying's pk in the final. I seem to recall somewhere that Briana even admitted to cheating, though I might be off on that.

Have you read any reaction from the Brasil camp, newsouth? I hope Dai stays in the game. Lima should have never put her in that situation.

We're still cheering for France, right?

The "feud" is between the British Parliment and FIFA....interesting to note that the English FA have'nt been suspended by FIFA due to "government interference"....frankly I wish that FIFA would suspend the FA....just to see what would happen next.
