This is what happens when they insist on having untested, unfit referees do all of these matches. Most of the FIFA woman refs in many of these countries probably wouldn't be doing high school matches in the US...
Well, you could see Buehler's foul as a last man offense, so the red card while harsh is a legit decision. Repeating the penalty was a terrible call though, there was one American player maybe a fraction of a second too early entering the penalty area.
So was that penalty kick yellow on Hope Solo and the rekick the most ridiculous call in the tournament this year, or did I miss one?
The red card was correct but very hard, similar to the France GK getting one. The second PK and the yellow on Hope was robbery. And that the ref let Brazil change PK taker is just cheating.
I think Julie made a good point that FIFA shouldn't insist on having an all female ref staff better to have all quality refs (whether they are male or female).
PK taken, Hope Solo saved. Linesman flagged, and claimed that Hope Solo moved before the PK (which she hadn't)

The ref is a disgrace. That was a beautiful save by Solo. Having already awarded a soft red card & penalty, adding the retake was going way too far. The goalie is already at a terrible disadvantage on a penalty kick, so the onus is on the penalty taker to put the ball in.
I can't tell from about the retake, but typically tripping the forward from behind with a high kick when she's in on goal with the ball is a foul, and if a foul, it's clearly DOGSO. As for the retake, I have no idea what the AR thought she saw.
i am rooting for Brazil to win, but that call was harsh rarely do you see refs call encroachment in football...and this call was BS.

Incredible ! Why don`t they stop the tournament and declare Brazil as world champion ? Wouldn`t that be easier ? Encroachment. I think U.S. players entered the box early. Solo got booked for taking a verbal dump on the ref.
FIFA ALWAYS cheats for brazil. I don't think Brazil would have won a single world cup in the last 40 years without FIFa cheating for them the entire way most world cups.
