Really? Perovic doesn't want to be locked into 2012 for 190K? Coming off an ACL he feels he has better options? He must have really hated playing here, or playing on the Gillette surface.
Strange how you didn't make any comments about all the positive notes made just 2 months ago when we all felt there was hope. But instead of actually talking about a particular topic, which in this case includes one of our best players ASKING TO LEAVE ... you're just going to take shots at others. Gotta love it. Management understands this teams problems and is committed to finding solutions. Man oh man, how many times have you said that ... let's see, offseason, summer window, followed once again by the offseason... etc etc etc. I'll repeat, the Revs chose to let one of their best players go because he doesn't want to play here. Can you please find the positive in this for us? Since everything is so perfect in Revs land and all...
We don't have a right to be negative? Get over yourself. You always come in trying to save the day with your positive energy. Sure we're a negative bunch, but tell me why we shouldn't be? Tell me what the club has done that deserves praise?
Herald article ... Yes, we all understand this. We just worry that this team has no idea how to acquire, negotiate with and then actually sign players that will contribute. But to be positive, we have another spot open on the roster! Woo!
He's been repeatedly posting "It's not the preseason?" about the last couple of weeks, which I think is rather negative. Not realistic at all even!
Hell Monty, they could have all the aforementioned abilities but it doesn't matter worth a dam of the players don't want to come to New England.
Yeah ... was trying to think of how to phrase that and was hoping the "negotiation" would work, but you're right.
I'm still trying to get over my rage on how the meeting went down last night (not that I expected it to go any different). This news isn't helping.
Anybody check out MLS-Rumors? We might sign some French defender? France the new Africa or something? Defender?
It's a pretty simple question: if you're a player looking to make a move, what is it about the New England Revolution that makes it an attractive professional option at this point? If you're an executive recruiter for the Revs, what's your pitch?

Let me take a stab at this. 1The paychecks cash. 2You can go out in public with your family and no one will bother you. 3Nice part of the country to live in. 4Good seafood. 5???????
literally? This is something I struggled to say in a recent post, but as usual, the Magpie said it better. It's not that Perovic was that special - he's not. It's that it raises the very ugly idea that the reason we can't attract the players we want is that they just don't want to play here.
Next winter it'll be "decline the options on Dabo, Domi and Lekic", and then next July we'll decline the options on the stiffs we pick up this month. It's just a revolving door set up by Nicol/Burns' atrocious talent assessment of international players. Has any other team in the last 3-4 years signed more international flops than we have?
The problem is, that even if we get the best striker in the world, we now need at least 3 top quality players to even compete...
It also echos a point I made in plain English on another thread over a month ago. NO ONE of any quality will play for the Rev as they are currently administered. Doc thought I pulled that notion out of my a$$ at the time. Possibly time to see the DARK, maybe, Doc?
No but we also keep re-signing players that fans REALLY want to see like Nyassi, Mansaly, Phelan, etc....
Very disappointing in that I thought Marco was a great example of something the Revs actually did WELL and something they could build the future on. However, it may be more nuanced than him simply not looking to play for the Revs. Perhaps he's willing to take the risk of not locking himself into just a single year. Maybe he believes that he can get a multi-year deal elsewhere even coming off of the ACL. If he were not to be able to come back or come back and get injured again then he could be looking at the end of his career. Rather than the short term security perhaps he's willing to gable elsewhere?
At this point, all I can do is laugh. Perovic was a rare touch of class for us and I still don't think Stolica really got a fair shake. He came here last year without a preseason, then gets shipped off early this season. Lekic seems to have more potential, judging from his recent half chances but Stolica was a better finisher and could hold the ball up well. I just want the downward spiral to continue, though. Don't sign a DP, continue to alienate the fans...maybe if we hit rock bottom it'll get the front office to perform a purging of the franchise.
