I guess you didn't read much of any of this thread, did you? Probably 95% of the posters here and in the game thread admit that.

Odd question of you to ask when you didn't even read the thread first.

    The fine is probably fair.

However, what seems lost in all this teeth gnashing is that MLS defenders are a profoundly stupid bunch. If defenders don't want soft penalties called (and that includes DC players too: Jakovic, Simms) they need to learn to stay on their feet and keep their hands to themselves inside the box.

Terry Vaughn is better than Okulaja, Jason Anno, or Michael Kennedy to KC fans. He actually called a decent match for KC v Philadelphia. Didn't fall for the dives and was pretty fair to both teams. He's certainly not great all the time, but there are worse refs in MLS.

I guess that's true. The only reason I mentioned it was that it was a somewhat rare occurrence that was worthy of notice. I think they're just inconsistent, like MLS players. (except for Abby - not sure he can keep up with the game at all)

Wait, so fine money goes to charity? So, really, he was doing it for the children! Well done, Charlie, well done indeed. Very selfless. :D

The idea of a fine was fitting, a bit high in my opinion. Eski only got fined $500 when he dissed a major corporate sponsor. I'd like to start seeing fines or some sort of negative repercussions on the referee sided though. Nothing public and nothing exorbitant but enough to appeal to their common sense and say hey the job that you're doing is not to standard and that needs fixed or you won't work here anymore.

In a separate press release MLS also announced that after reviewing several seasons of game tape, they've retroactively fined Carlos Ruiz $1.35 billion. Apparently all those boys and girls are getting yachts.

You'd like to start seeing such, but nothing public? If it's not public, then how would you see it? :)

Seriously, though, there are negative repercussions to poor referee assessments: not getting as many matches. You can't really fine them, because they make next to nothing anyway.

The Soccer Gods are responsible for our defenders' lack of focus? That settles it, I'm going atheist.

Well... Ok. Touche. I didn't read everything word for word. My apologies. I did go back and look more closely at the other posts and now see that.

The players don't need to go, just the diving behavior. I agree with you that Espy and Javi dive too (although Javi isn't doing much diving these days...) and it ticks me off. Not as much though as they haven't (yet...) drawn a bull$h!t PK. It's the one thing that pisses me off the most about this game, when players for ANY team flop/dive/whatever, because they're getting beat/manhandled/whatever, just to get a call.

Don't be an asshat. Here's a thought: it's not YOUR forum. Granted, it's where the majority of DCU fans congregate, but it's also where ANYONE can go who's interested in anything DCU related. Guess what? YOU, and ANYONE else can do the same with ANY of the other forums! Ain't technology grand?!

That's low. ;) Two things: 1. No way in HELL am I a Mormon and, 2. I've noticed that (Mormon) too and found it oddly satisfying!

I look forward to reading the RSL forums when one of your guys IS the recipient of such a crappy call and is awarded a PK. I may just have to bookmark the relevant threads...

If only the DCU forum could exhibit the kindness, understanding and decorum exhibited by those in the RSL forum over the same issue.

    Oh, wait.

Before I got to know RSL during their continental run, I knew them best for their diving school.

What goes around comes around, and will likely go around once again.
