So the upset people are from 3rd world hell holes. Got it.

By the way if a 3rd of Sam Houston army was ethnically Mexican, than most of the army was not native to Texas.

well - the first part implies that 1/3 of the army were ethnically Mexicans who lived in what is now Texas - then the other 2/3 were basically Europeans, US Americans and maybe a few Africans - so, yes, kinda

Mexico didn't open Texas to American settlement until 1821. While there had been some immigration from the US to Texas before then it didn't start in any real numbers until the '20s. By the way, Davy Crockett & Sam Houston 2 of the biggest figures of the war were born in what is now Tennessee & Virginia.

Hey, here's an idea... how 'bout back on topic:

I think DC opens with a 4-4-2, probably looking like this:

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Wolff, Davies, Pontius, Simms, McCarty, Najar, Woolard, White, Kitchen, Zayner, Hamid[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

I almost put "Balls" for Zayner... that interview he gave still cracks me up. :D

I think we'll see Davies and BlakeBrett up top and McCarty and King in the middle.

Things are very crowded in the East, even KC and Toronto are in it. For United to have a real chance at making the playoffs they have to win this.

    ummm...
From 1821 to 1836 Texas was a state within Mexico.
In 1836, Texas won its independence during the Texas Revolution or Texas War of Independence.
From 1836-1845, it was the Republic of Texas.
In 1845, Texas was annexed and became a U.S. state.

So really the American settlers/Americans who joined the Texian Army were the foreigners.

He said in the pre match interview that he and Najar had come up with a spectacular celebration.

I'd prefer results and some points versus a loss with a single goal and a "spectacular celebration"

Hope our defense can keep it together and not make some young oompa loompa (see Will Bruin, Lenhart) look like the 2nd coming of Ruud van Nistelroy.

Wouldn't mind seeing a bit of Fred's farewell tour if we need some creative help in midfield.

It's gonna be a bit hot, plan accordingly :)

lower humidity, so it'll feel cooler than today, but still sunburn you.

Last time they stated they were planning a celebration they got blanked (I believe the RedBulls game).

Really? Because I was thinking what this thread needs is a discussion of obscure ethnic slurs that are blocked by BigSoccer's auto censor along with commentary on whether or not they're actually offensive.

If your point is that both are equally off-topic, you're right.

If your point is to suggest that both are equally likely to start a nasty flame war with possible racist/ethnic overtones -- which was the reason I made the sarcastic comment you quoted -- then you're dead wrong.

I've not been following this season particularly closely, but this is at least the second time that Charlie has mouthed off about a celebration he pre-planned.

I get that swagger and cockiness in a striker is like stupid in a red bull fan, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

You give me too much credit. I simply meant to suggest that both will cause me to shake my head and look elsewhere for my placebo for social interaction.

LOL I'm pretty sure that Americans/Texans/Mexicans were all the actual foreign invaders who were fighting over turf that was inhabited by native tribes for 1000 years or more. Any claim of nationhood over land that was at that point populated by whites for only 2 - 3 generations is funny and sad at the same time.

Now that we've put all that behind us, I hope we can kick some dynamo-hum ass on Saturday!
