This Nutter was bad when he took over from Gareth Last Season and his Progression into Megalomania has steadily increased.I don't understand Fitz continuing to allow the destruction of his Team,I had credited Fitz with more intelligence. This Dingo called Galanis must have some sort of Svengali effect on Fitz and it's a bloody shame that the Players and the Fans have to put up with him.The sooner the lying Puke is dismissed the better. Don't know why Trotter has not been rostered from last 2 games unless she argued with a-hole and is in the dog-house or she is injured.
Nutter, indeed. WPS News: "Despite the scoreless finish, the Independence had plenty of opportunities to capitalize on scoring chances. Philadelphia out shot Atlanta 17-3, 11 of those attempts on goal." Galanis via Twitter: "Great team effort tonight. Very proud of the team. Big step forward for us."
Hmm, we actually had less shots than the week before. Glad Whitworth did well, sounds like she had a great game. I'm just wondering why Lipsher didn't start. The rest of our defense was the same as the prior week, so I'm not sure if it's a reaction against the magicjack game or what.
on atlanta's website on the coaches weekly report it has trotter listed with the injured and questionable
Thank you. The WPS roster report didn't list her as "injured" but "not rostered" and so that was my confusion. Some other teams generally list an injured player as out w/ injury. Philly didn't do that w/ Fowlkes so ATL isn't the only one.
I could believe these because they are public knowledge I find this hard to believe, how old are these players? 10 yr old? What does he lie, exactly?
From wps transcations page: magicJack traded to Atlanta Beat all rights to Kacey White. magicJack received Atlanta Beat's overall pick in the fourth round of the 2012 Draft. http://www.womensprosoccer.com/Home/news/transactions-11.aspx
White is a decent pick up -- solid pro w/ time in Sweden b/f WPS started. Not a star. I guess ATL GM (or coach) has realized that a team full of rookies w/ a couple of experienced players isn't going to hack it. If they'd signed some of these midlevel pros eariler, they might not be in quite the hole they're in now. Free Lori Chalupny!
At least they're trying to go in the right direction now? Of course, Parker isn't available this week. Is it safe to assume that White will be w/ ATL this week?
White has played only 2 games total 55 minutes; assuming she is not injured, she should be ready and a good pick-up. Escape from magicJack ?
damning w/ faint praise? j/k Interesting that Borislow didn't ask for/receive another player in exchange. Their bench is pretty thin right now.
I have come to the conclusion that trades in this league that appear to be uneven, were designed that way to help out (save) one party, in this case (again) the Beat.
It will be interesting to see if White plays this week and how much. The trade Borislow made the week before (Klingenberg) came back to bite him in the butt. Maybe this one will, too.
I hadn't been keeping up with the roster moves this past week, so I was shocked to see Atlanta finally had a presence up front in the first half of the Magic Jack match. White looked great the first half of the match, but seemed to disappear a bit in the second (though she did score...but that was as much to do with Jesolva's hustle play than anything else). At least we finally have a little bit of hope on the offensive side of things.
So, I haven't been paying my usual obsessive fan attention but I just saw these two (old-ish) tweets about ATL and wondered what those in ATL knew/thought: GerryMarrone @UnionGray Yes. The coach has done nothing to help - like running practices during the season where they don't touch a ball. #wpschat 13 Jun GerryMarrone @inlineclass The coach is saying that they aren't working hard enough - he's said it all season. Cat finally stood up for them. #wpschat 13 Jun Anyone know what Whitehill did/said? And how that was received? Also, too. Fitz waited too long to fire O'Sullivan last season and I think that resulted in a worse situation than it otherwise would have been. Will he wait too long this season?
Don't know anything re Gerry's tweets but can see them as being true just by the midweekly interviews with the coach.Re Cat standing up to him I say Good for her it needed doing a long time ago. Cat has the experience and standing in the League to be the one to voice Team's feelings. Personally have always seen him as a Personal Trainer not a Soccer coach AND Yes Fitz will make the same mistake, although this dip has been given more leeway than Gareth, because I thought that the Team last year with Gareth was beginning to come together as a team then Fitz up and fired him. Methinks Fitz wants a Yes man( A**hole creeper) because he doesn't appear to like anyone with an alternate view to his own.No facts to support that statement just a gut feeling and observation.
They should have got Marta when they had a chance. Atlanta Beat is just as dysfunctional as every other professional team in Atlanta not named the Falcons.
I think you are showing a general lack of knowledge regarding the WPS. The goal for the league right now is survival, and if another team folds then the league will likely go away as well. Atlanta's plan has obviously been one to just survive until the league starts rolling a bit more. Yeah I'd love to see them add Marta (or Wambach, Sinclair, etc.), but not at the expense of seeing them bleed money and go belly up just like FC GoldPride and LA Sol have done before them (think Marta's rumored $500k salary had anything to do with those teams folding?). Yes it stinks that the team is struggling just to even get a point most games, but I'd rather have the team around for another few seasons doing poorly than to have them load up with big names only to fade away like others before them.
Clearly with the players we dumped from last season and the rumored low salaries this season, Marta couldn't have even been a consideration for Fitz. Honestly, I was glad we didn't get Marta, because then we would've just been a one-trick pony (yes, I realize now we're basically a no-trick pony). I would much rather have seen us in a Philly-type situation where a solid team is strategically assembled. Amazing how divergent the paths of those teams has been. The draft is where we screwed the pooch and basically declared our intentions to under-achieve, which is too bad because I think the team is beginning to take better shape with some decent mid-season pickups to compliment Chalupny and Lloyd. I think if we'd kept more of last year's team (Ellertson, Ras, Kia, Zerboni), picked up a decent (not $$$$) finisher or two, and peppered in a few promising rookies, we'd be in way better shape now. Is it too soon to start the "Questions for Next Year" thread?
Bethke's gone as of about a week ago and has signed with a professional club in Norway from what I've heard. Lyndsey Patterson's contract was mutually terminated today. Yup. All about that player development.
You meant to type "player demoralization", didn't you? Galanis is running this team like a season of Survivor (or whatever the current Elimination Show of the Month is). By mid-August we'll be down to Chalpuny and Whitehill. Bethke I never really saw enough of, but I thought Patterson had excellent pace and showed promise. And where the hell is that Schnur signing? I see WNY has already signed Moros. Anyone interested in a good ol' fashioned bloodless coup?
