Looks like we will have De Rosario back for the game against Portland.

Canada is officially eliminated. No reason we shouldn't have DeRo back by Sunday.

Having DeRo back will be nice.

With no Rodgers, Backe will be tempted to put DeRo up top with Henry but that is something I wouldn't do.

    Just go:

    Henry Hertzog
    Lindpere DeRo Tainio Ballouchy

Actually why not put DeRo up top with Henry. Da Luz has done a good job on the left flank.

    Henry DeRo
    Da Luz Lindpere Ballouchy
    Tainio

Da Luz has been very good but De Ro's not the hardest worker at forward imo. Not only that, he had built up his cardio to a very high level playing CAM before the gold cup so I'd hate for him to fall out of that harder working rhythm. Continuity is important in every sport and keeping DeRo at CAM should be a priority.

I'd deal with Hertzog even if it means a couple poor decisions and Henry yelling at him. He still works pretty hard and plays on the edges. Not as great as Rodgers is in that regard, but good enough.

And I definitely wouldn't play Rodgers... That injury is something you don't play with. Just rest it before it becomes serious. Lindpere and Tainio should be good to go though.

Backe also likes to strive for consistency unless something is really broken so I don't see De Ro playing up top and if Rodgers can't go, I think he will try Hertzog up top.

My guess on the line up

    Henry Rodgers (or Hertzog)

---------- Lindpere De Ro Tainio ----- Ballouchy

    -------------Millier----- Keel------Mendes-----Solli
    ---------------------------Suttton

This keeps Da Luz and either Rodgers or Hertzog on the bench as subs allowing Backe to take off Rodgers or Lindpere if needed. Plus Kassel in case Solll needs help.

We'll likely have Richards back for Seattle also. Given he is going to rest Henry on Thursday, I think Backe will try to rest Rodgers so that he is closer to fully fit for that game.

I don't think even he knows what it means. You're guess is as good as mine.

Its satire. In another words, Metz is again expressing his disapproval of the DeRosario trade because he thinks we gave up too much to get him.

    Thanks for the translation. :)

I was fully supportive of the trade when it happened, but DeRo (historically one of my all-time favorite players in MLS) is not living up to expectations. He's been fairly invisible. The promise of that first pass when he came in for his first game with NYRB has faded away. The great DeRo of San Jose/Houston form is no more.

But the real question is, do you think Tchani or Borman would have contributed more at this point? I don't see how you can say they would have.

I think Tchani is pretty good and projects as a solid holding mid, but Tainio is everything you want at that position so he was just good depth.

Borman and Tchani simply weren't going to play. Borman may have gotten some of these games during the gold cup, but it's not like he's that good and Da Luz has proved to be pretty solid. Definitely more upside than Borman.

Tchani I still think will eventually be one of the leagues best holding mid's, he's just so rough around the edges. To many of his tackles end as fouls instead of cleanly dispossessing the other player and too many of his passes are just off the mark. But your right, he was barely ever going to play considering Tainio seems to be able to play through injuries and Backe fields his most talented 11 at all possible costs.

I agree but the point still, we give to much to obtain DeRo....I say that at the time of the trade and say that now....

So you agree with komba when he says that they were never going to play, that Tchani is nowhere near as good as Tainio and that Da Luz has looked better than Borman, yet you still think it was too much to trade for one of the league's most accomplished players?

    That could be arguable.

If you think about it, it seems as though it got to a point where Toronto HAD to trade DeRo, and they should have been dealing from a very bad position. Instead, they still managed to get top value out of us which was a bit annoying.

I would do the trade a 100 times, I would have just expected for us to not have to give up top value when Toronto was in a position where they had to move him.

Not only that, he had just 1 year left on his deal.

What are you tacking about, they will not pick they option next year to give DeRo a DP salary are you crazy, that's the wrong of all this shit, Backe made this trade for only one year if he win the CUP no body will give a shit if DeRo stay or not and he will look for somebody else that in the beginning is what he was suppose to do.....

If he don't win the CUP he as a excuse will send DeRo packing and out of here....And that's the wrong picture that we will not have no body else because we send all our youngsters away....And have the roster full of old goats for 3 more years....

metz the team isn't simply going to toss De Rosario away without already having a suitable replacement in mind, it would never come to having to rely on our young players.

I've said it before but this board spends way too much time arguing with Metz about his rantings. Really gets old for me.
