If you go to 810's website, they have a podcast of the discussion when Robb called in.

Listened to the podcast and have to applaud Robb for his honesty. I am very glad to hear that the team's performance was unacceptable. He seemed really down by how we continue to play. Have to think that Vermes time is drawing to a close, unless he can produce a miracle. No fan base wants to enter a rebuild mode, but it is time for some fresh ideas because the Vermes plan is NOT working.

It is refreshing to hear Robb say that Vermes "is under an immense amount of pressure" and called the on-field performance "atrocious" and "bad" on the radio. All of this may be true, but I would not expect him to say it. Perhaps Vermes is on a shorter timeframe than I thought.

Just listened to the Don Garber interview from earlier this week. I was very impressed, until he said that we have a great coach in Peter Vermes. :p

i don't really think we need to do a complete rebuild. a couple of big tweaks, sure, but we have a lot of good players right now. they just need to be used properly.

EDIT: oh yeah, listened to the podcast, and i wish i would've been listening live when he called in. good for robb. pleased to hear it.

So "St. Lamar" was ready to sell us out three years after he built s stadium in Columbus? It's things like this that leave me with very mixed feelings for the man.

Glad we have owners now who are committed to KC.

He didn't sell us though did he? It is weird when stuff like this comes up after a guy is dead because you can never go back to the source to get the real story, or at least his side of it.

Regardless, no Lamar, no SKC, and probably no MLS.

    Hence, my mixed feelings.

He was absolutely one of the reasons there is MLS and a team in KC.

In contrast, I worked on a proposed stadium complex for the Wizards in the early 2000's. But for a variety of reasons he would never pull the trigger on a stadium for the team. And that lack of commitment nearly cost us the team.

And he and the Hunt family have made hundreds of millions of dollars from the KC metro so it certainly wasn't, and isn't, a one way street.

Robb will be on BTL at 5 p.m. (810 AM).

Story about KC's win yesterday was on page 6 of the Star sports section. A story about Stallone and Tyson getting picked for the Boxing Hall of Fame made page 2.

SI's Steve Davis ranks LSP as the 6th best stadium in MLS. (WHUT!?)

His only complaint is location - which really means he's not just focusing on the stadium itself.

Especially since his #1 stadium, Red Bull Park, has the same location problem.

Whatever. As long as the SKC fans like it, that's all that matters.

This question probably belongs in the "Fire Peter Vermes" thread, but in the context of MLS, who would qualify as a home run hire?

    Number 6? ********ing really?

And I thought I couldn't think any less of him. I was clearly wrong.

I would have to say someone along the same line as Jurgen Klinsmann.

Yeah this is the same guy that last year said Vermes stood pat with the roster he got after Onalfo was fired...

It also means he doesn't really know a damn thing about Kansas City. If there's one place where the people are used to getting in the car and driving 30 minutes to anything and everything, it's this town.

I've had this discussion before, and it's probably more for the Rest of the World thread, but really what has Klinsmann done as a coach? He took a traditional world power, that was hosting the World Cup to the semifinals. Yeah it's an accomplishment, but not spectacular. Then he goes and underachieves at Bayern Munich. I don't see the intrigue in the guy.

Not him really, just someone with a recognizable name who's fairly desperate for a job.
