Why people keep signing this malcontent headcase is beyond me...he's the Randy Moss of indoor soccer.
To play devil's advocate, Farias is a tremendous scorer and he led La Raza to a championship just a couple of seasons ago. Signing him is a gamble to be sure. It could pay big dividends or it could backfire and he could be a terribly disruptive force.
Glad to hear Farias WON'T be playing for the Comets this year. He doesn't strike me as being much of a team player...
I got to tell you - He is a friend of mine and off the field he is a great guy He is passionate and sometimes goofy on the field no arguing that - a player you love to hate when he is the opposition but he does score goals and he does the control the ball very well and is a pretty heads up player does he do some things that make you go hmmmm? absolutely and has he been with a few teams - yes, however, just the news that he signed and look at how in our little world - he has a thread about him and mixed emotions he very well can be an asset to a team and for a hometeam - there will "Chili" fans you can count on that
I saw the new MISL website this morning, as of right now it doesn't list Chicago as one of the cities.
Chicago will not be a part of the misl next year they cant secure funding fo rat least 3 years as required by the USL
Peter wilt wont give up I think its best that they come in in 12-13 to give them time to come up with the money and a real game plan to get fans in the seats
That's being generous, Rich. Just ask all the teams, and in particular Steve Morris or Marcelo Fontana (of late).
um, because he's awesome....AND the MISL needs more players like him...The league has become too faceless and boring....The league needs characters and personalities that stand out...just like the old MISL and NPSL did...Chile is a great player and is fun to watch...I never minded paying for a ticket when he played for the Steamers..Contrary to what some others have said; Chile is a team player...one of the best passers in the league..and besides, you'd almost have to be a headcase to play in a league like The MISL....
I met Chile at a local bar after a Steamers game and he was a great guy...I think he's misunderstood as he has a passion for the game that he exudes off the field too....By far my favorite player in the league...
I remember when Kim Roentved came to play with his older brother ..... on the Wings team, and he was considered "tempermental", angered easily, passionate, hard to control, hard playing ... LOL. I looked him up, and sure seems he has a very hard time staying with "a" team for long. I watched some clips of him playing, and see nothing but good with his game. He took shots, made great passes, hussled, made things happen, etc. When one of his teammates scored, he was among the first to go over and congratulate them.
Like him or not, Chile is a game changer. He can create and score goals out of nothing. Every team that plays against him pays special attention to him. As it's been said, he can score goals, but also has great vision on the field and is an exceptional passer of the ball. Yes, he can be a headache with his personality at times, but what you also get with that is a guy that can win games for you. He did well in Monterrey under Bolella. You just need a coach that can handle his personality and style of play. I hope Holliman can balance his personality with the rest of the team he is building. To me, it's a good signing for Wichita.
it's only good if he plays with the team and not for himself and doens't lie to managment about being injured and missing practice, then flying out to LA for tryout with an MLS club. I agree he is a great player.
If you wanted to see "egos" , all you had to do was watch Eric Rasmussen and Tatu when they both were playing for the Wings. Neither of them would pass to each other because both wanted to be the top goal scorer. If they would have passed to each other, they would have outscored everyone, as it was... they gave up goals and argued as to who's fault it was.
That's great, except Rasmussen and Tatu never played together for the Wings. Rasmussen played in Wichita from 1984-89, and from 1997-98, and Tatu only played for the Wings in 1993-94.
I'll recheck my facts, if it wasn't Eric then determine exactly who it was, as my memory is deceiving me in that case ... because I would swear it was Eric and Tatu. Whoever it was, they would not pass to each other at all.... and by the way Eric played 97-98 & 98-99 again with the Wings.
