    I like this logic. So the raw chicken I buy in the store shouldn't be taxed, since I need to cook it once i get home.

    No, its not. But if you buy a rotisserie chicken at the supermarket or a bucket of the Colonel's finest at KFC, since it is prepared and in a consumable state, it is subject to sales tax (in NYS, at least).
