    Re: This is Houston!

Forgive me if this has been asked/answered.... this is regarding the webcam...

as someone in another part of the country but who has been looking at the webcam and google maps, I think that the "downtown" is off to the right of the screen (that long building near the highway is the convention center, right?)...

What are the large buildings in the background of the screen?

    Thanks!

If you're referring to what I think you're referring to, that would be part of the medical center.

Looks like they're building two tunnels(?) on the south end. Hopefully we can get some pics soon.

This the area under the stage area in the south end. This will also have the player tunnel.

This tunnel is the vehicle access to the playing field in the southeast corner.

KC's stadium looks fantastic. I hope our stadium can match up. Are there any other renderings of our stadium outside of that 1 showing the exterior?

    Per ESPN;

Seating 18,467 for soccer and 25,000 for concerts, the stadium boasts technological innovations which Sporting KC proclaims is "the next generation of fan experience."

"It's remarkable. It's a technological marvel for the sport of soccer," said MLS commissioner Don Garber, on hand for Thursday's opening. "It has so many new and innovative things that will provide fans an experience that will set the standard for not just soccer but in many ways even for other sports."

Throughout the facility, Cisco Connected Sports Solutions offers high-def video, interactive fan services and digital content. More than 150 WiFi access points will accommodate mobile and hand-held devices. People will be able to order food and drink delivered to them without leaving their seats as well as keep up with stats during the action.

"We realize some of these things may not always go perfectly and there's going to be a bit of learning around some of these solutions," said Robb Heineman, one of Sporting KC's five owners. "But for us, this is really exciting. This is the beginning of what we believe will be a really cool collaboration."

More than 330 high definition televisions will be placed around the stadium, the first MLS park fully equipped for HDTV.

In the plush home locker room, players will sit on $5,000 seats imported from Spain. The seats are equipped with power docks so they can access information during halftime. The spacious media room where postgame interviews will be conducted is right next to a large bar and food area. Fans will be able to look through the glass partition to see the interviews while the audio is piped to them.

I've been to Camp Nou and their press room is super sweet. It also has the glass panoramic view, although I don't think fans/supporters are allowed in since it's relatively close to the locker rooms. Hopefully the FO and the architect will be able to incorporate the spectacular things. I'm sure KC's stadium will show them where to improve upon.

part of the price difference is cost to build materials labor land etc which is cheaper here in houston than in most cities. Plus our cost is closer to 100 million with land etc. Also our land patch wont be as big as them since theyre gonna be who knows where and we are east end downtown. Also come on the lounges are awesome and whatnot....but please we want to see the dynamo not lounging somewhere...that to me is kinda dumb...encourage people not to be in the stands really?? Im sure our stadium will be the envy....especially the downtown location the uniqueness of the Orange Glow Shell it will have and the Packed sold out stadium!!;)

I still don't understand the KC stadium thing.
I lived there from 2005 to 2007 and nobody seemed to give a .... about the team.

The team controlling its own stadium is the route to profitability. It has almost nothing to do with the enthusiasm of the fans.

Guys, I went to the stadium today to check it out, this is gonna be awesome. I walked around on foot a little just to get a feel for things; its really good. Lucky's could not be in a better situation, there is a new grocery where you can buy sandwiches, beer etc right next to it, plus woodrows has opened a bar there, also a new wine bar.

There are some nice little trees and a walkway between the apartments and what i presume will be the new main stand. The whole stadium area is all a pretty easy walk from the heart of downtown.

In short it looks awesome. Can't wait.

Has anyone seen detailed renderings of the interior? I know we are working with less of a budget than both Red Bull Arena and Live Strong Park but everytime you look at those places you are amazed. I just hope that despite less funds our place looks and feels more like that rather than uninspiring places like Frisco, Colorado or Chicago. At the end of the day who am I to complain but my thinking is we only get one shot at this. Chris Canetti if your out there fill me in

My ticket rep told me the other day that there should be virtual images in July.

I hope it doesn't get as fancy as KC and don't think it will, OL and CC have both said it would have amenities equal to the other parks in Houston but no luxuries, which is fine with me. I just dont understand KC having so much luxury in an 18,000 seat stadium. Not even any money off naming rights. Seems to me the tickets would cost a fortune.

Tickets at LSP range from $25 to $62.50.

I'm more of a critic for the boxes at DS. $50,000 per year with a 3-year commitment ($150,000).

Your not in club seats now so that is not a 500% increase right? Just because the club seats are in the area you sit does not make them equivalent seats. Of course they are gonna put the premium seats at mid field now that they have a real club. Don't want to scare people with 500% increase on same seat levels. Although some will have to move to keep same pricing level.

Wow. Even more than I thought. Not really surprised but still more than I thought. Other prelim thoughts:

    1) I would love to see this brochure (funny, 200 section STHs haven't gotten it yet).

    2) I won't give out our exact seat location but let's just say that based upon a quick surface-level analysis of the crowd in the lower 200 sections, most folks won't be ponying up that kind of money. Most of 204 will be sitting the upper corners or endzones next year. I always figured the tix would go from $375 per seat to $800-$1,000 based upon what other teams charge in the SSS but to jump that up.

    3) Do not be surprised if after they go thru the priority list in full, they have to come back again one more time to sell those premium seats. Yeah, there will be a certain moneyed crowd that will pay that but $75 per game to watch Jason Garey?

    4) It is kind of sad to know that most of the loyal crowd will be priced out of the new stadium or sitting in the boonies. I don't particularly blame the Dynamo for trying, but they aren't cutting any breaks to the old STHs at those prices. If they had a current STH discount or phase-in it would show a gesture of good faith but at a $60M investment they need to make the money back somehow.

    5) Suite sales will be interesting. They will sell many, but I can tell you for a fact that many companies and firms that had full suites in the past have gone in with others to split the suites or just rent them out on a game-by-game basis. And that is for Astros, Rockets, Texans. They are going to have to have a carrot bigger than Cam Weaver to get the managing partner of a big law firm to spend $50K a year for 20 soccer games.

    6) Hope everyone who drank the orange kool-aid for the stadium rallies can afford the tickets there.

Suites will get all events not just MLS for 20 people

The poster was comparing upper level pricing to club level...not a fair comparison. There will be regular upper level seating maybe a section over.
