Home opener is 4! days away. We play the Fire, who haven't won since they beat us in their home opener earlier this year. They're 4 points ahead of us after they drew with Seattle 0-0 last night as well. Chicago has also played 2 more games then us.

All excuses are gone, we're home, now is when the seat starts to get hot for Vermes.

    I laughed. Well played.

(But really, for a lot of reasons, we need to win this game).

Right now, I'm guessing that I sleep there the night before :)

    But I probably don't count.

Time to get the season turned around. Cannot wait for Thursday. I am sure Vermes will get a "few" home games before the seat gets to hot, but we need a Portland like start at home to get this thing turned around. Just hope we will have a full house for the opener on national television.

It was intended as a joke, but I also kind of mean it. We need to win this game.

I'm going to get out there around 5pm. Grill my own food then head in to the Members Club.

This will be the first time Sporting Kansas City Wizards have ever played a match in their own home. Crazy to look back at 6 years ago and imagine we are just 4 days away from this happening. Amazing.

I am so ready for this.

Pumped... dangerously fired up about this...

Waited entirely too long to get a SKC jersey but I got one ordered... My new SKC flag is ironed... mouth watering in anticipation of the 1st of a lifetime of classic tailgates...

Gonna be 4 days of little-kid-on-xmas-eve excitement where it may be tough to sleep or concentrate on anything...

Do we know how early the gates are going to be opened? I want to get their early, but I want to be inside the stadium.

We may be down as early as 3:00 or so...that's when we can check into our room for the overnight stay that I'm sure will turn out to be a good idea. I asked my rep if we would be able to leave our car in the lot overnight and never got a reply. If not we'll figure something out.

I agree that it is huge that we get a good result out of this game. Not only to start digging out of the basement but also to help keep some of the newbies at this game coming back. I'm sure we'll also have a lot more media attention than usual. Ok, "sure" may be a stretch but I would hope we would.

I think Chicago will win 1-0 on a late goal and PV will be given a new 5 year contract after the game. Hopefully we get a few shots on target.

Hopefully Sinovic and Kamara are ready to go this week. Personally (and I know I will probably get ripped for this), I would like to see Stojcev in for Zusi, Sinovic in for Myers, and Kamara in for Teal. Until Teal gets his mojo back, he needs to come off the bench. Move Bravo into the middle where he belongs and Kei out to his familiar right side. Zusi's passing has a lot to be desired....like some accuracy would be nice. I am afraid we are going to see Diop return to the d-mid role this week with Rocastle gone. Maybe Sassano plays, but he looked like a traffic cone last night. He seemed to shy away from any 50-50 balls.

Whoever starts.....GET YOUR ASSES IN GEAR AND WIN THIS ONE FOR THE HOME CROWD!!!! The luster will be off the stadium if we don't win this and win it convincingly. It would be nice to get a good performance in for our one and only ESPN appearance this year.

I can't believe we are merely days away from the opener. Wow. Dream come true for sure.

I don't see what people see in Stojcev, he's no better than Zusi unless he has a ton of space to work with. I figure IF Kei can start (I heard he was leaving immediately after the game yesterday to get back), then we'll see Bravo possibly drop back into Zusi's spot...

You know who would be an awesome replacement for both Zusi and Stojcev? Jack Jewsbury.

    Sorry.

Agreed, Stojcev needs another chance since Zusi has problems controlling and passing the ball in traffic. Stojcev was not much better with his passes, but he sure seems to have a better touch on the ball and his positioning is better. Chance needs to take a seat and not get up until they have a reserve league game. I am hoping that Sinovic is 100% for the opener. I think he shows a lot of promise. Smith on the left, Kamara on the right and Bravo in the center. And lastly, please give Harrington an idea that every pass does not have to be airborne, at least 40 yards long, and into at least 3 defenders.

I'm still in the stadium, the staff just can't find me. :D

I plan on getting there whenever the Cauldron tailgate is supposed to be or whatever. At least I don't have to wait in line for my tickets like some people will do. I'm broke but I'm never that desperate.

Good lord, I'm just ready to skip through this week to Thursday.

i was shooting for 5pm, but i think i'm gonna try to push it up to 4:30. traditionally, i stay out in the lot until the last possible moment, but i'll want to be inside well ahead of kickoff for this one. that means my arrival will have to be earlier to compensate.

Truely is a must win. If they can't Will this game into 3 points, then...
I 'd rather not think about that.

    As far as lineup goes:

Question 1: Zusi or Stojcev? (Neither they are both kinda redundant utility type players. Not great at any one attribute but average enough at everything to play on occassion.)

Question 2: D-Mid? Not many good choices here with Auvray and Rocastle out. So I guess Diop over Sassano.

    Smith-----Sapong------Kei
    ---Bravo---
    Diop(?)-----Arnaud
    Harrington--Besler--Collin--Sinovic

Obviously this is a kinda modified 4-3-3 or maybe stretched 4-5-1 but I think it works. More then anything it keeps Bravo central to distribute and shoot but keeps some defensive shape. Then Arnaud and Diop can basically patrol the mid field area and help out the defense.

My flight gets in around 1pm then gotta go round up the 7 people I am bringing with me (some of which this will be there first game). I am hoping to get there around 6ish.

And yes this is going to be a long 3 days of work this week.

Been waiting since 96' for this. So Happy.

I'm taking the 4:00 p.m. flight from Chicago, which is due to arrive at 5:25. The On-time Arrival Performance for American between ORD and MCI on Thursdays for departures between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. is 70%. I guess I didn't need to check FlightStats for this percentage, since I have been flying this route longer than I care to remember. I am at the mercy of everything that is O'Hare, the weather in the midwest and American Airlines. I have no idea when I will get there.

I hope that I get there early enough so I am not the guy wearing a rumpled button-down shirt, dress pants and a hat that says "DHARMA" walking aimlessly through Lot G looking to be hooked up with a beer.
