Hawks win, Etienne is involved in the winning goal yet again, Knighton gets another clean sheet, Ralph's Mob continues to clap in ways that remind us of 80s cheerleaders.

Hawks win. Tampa fires the coach and shakes up the lineup. New foreign players arrive but fail to right the ship.

Hatters gonna hat. We clap because we love.

I don't expect much from this game. The Railhawks are easily the best team in the league and with the problems we are having with goal scoring, and now defensively there are question marks, should be easy to predict a loss.

Injuries are piling up now as well. A full strength team might have given you guys a go, but as is I'll be happy if we don't give up four goals again to be honest.

Except the cheerleader is now morbidly obese and is married to Ralph...

I thought the Hatters were closer to OCSC?

Honestly, right now if you're not Edmonton, Minnesota, or maybe Puerto Rico, to me the more interesting questions become things like "will FCTB score?" (I vote no) and "what's the over/under on Carolina's score?" (I say 1.5, though I'm personally inclined to take over on that).

Similarly, any team that's playing Atlanta shouldn't be asking "will we win," but "will the Silverbacks be able to give us any trouble at all?" (I'd've thought not when they came to NC this weekend, but it was quite the nailbiter of a game.)

What scares me is, when you come up on the 18th, we'll probably have the same problem at least a little bit. I credit Foote Field with a lot of what happened to your guys on Tuesday, and guess where we play next.

Ya that field is brutal. Really a shame the league had to allow it in order to get sanctioning, otherwise they had to have known it would indeed BE brutal and would have should have maybe could have come up with an alternate solution.

    Hopefully next season.

I don't see us scoring goals against you guys. Not enough to win anyways. Our midfield is in shambles due to injuries and even when healthy we've just not been able to figure it out.

We DO have Attinella who has been sick in goal so far, have brought in a reinforcement in defense from the Chicago Fire, and we have King and Ambersley.

So while anything is possible, I still predict a 2-1 loss.

Are you suggesting your team's injury issues stem from the poor field conditions?

If we're talking about the poor conditions at Foote Field (Edmonton), I think blaming that for some of the more recent injuries is entirely reasonable.

Yes..it was a crappy field... to blame the injuries on the field ..... Edmonton would have their whole team on Injured Reserved??

Did FC Tampa Bay train on plastic grass.. for example at Eckerd College? My thinking is.. not.

I think that when the turf is so hard that you need different shoes to play on it effectively, and it's only cost-effective to buy them on an NASL budget if you have to play there half the time anyway, that it's unsurprising that other teams' players get hurt there a fair amount.

During the recent TB game at Foote, there were eight injuries. Would you rather I blamed your players?

I'm sure there's some sort of metric out there to determine the amount of man hours lost (and all other associated costs) due to injuries occurring on artificial turf vs. natural grass. It makes me wonder if it really is more cost effective to go with the plastic over the expense & upkeep of grass? Can anyone verify this?

    (I vote for the grass.)

I suspect the turf might well win (grass the quality of ours is a serious expense), but I don't think you can put a dollar amount on the lost playing time and call that a sufficient metric of the cost of turf. When people I know are risking injury for their jobs, I'm willing to have extra money be spent if it reduces the risk.

Well, that's not THE ONLY metric I was referring to, it was just one. There's man hours lost, cost of treatment, salaries of medical personnel, costs of rehab, supplies, insurance, etc. all the associated costs of treating injured players. Even so it's still probably cheaper to go with artificial. ??

I was simply speculating that somewhere there must be research to determine ALL of the costs associated with injuries accrued while playing on artificial turf, be it for football, soccer, field hockey, whatever sport. There has to be some sort of breakdown in the types of injuries that occur most often on AT rather than grass and the relative costs of those injuries. In other words, I hope organizations take in to account all the ramifications of converting to either AT or grass besides just, artificial = $X and sod = $Y.

I'd be interested in seeing all the numbers.

Yeah, but I think when you're talking about the impact it has on the players, money isn't the best way to measure it. There's a human cost too.

But yeah, I'd love to see the numbers.

    2-0 at 65"

    barbara pk @ 63
    zimmerman header off Steele @64

Ralph's mob getting owned as Carolina players run up to them after the goal and point to their Railhawks jerseys.

Loving Zimmerman's performance this game and Nurse has been solid.

    Glory, glory Carolina!

    Finish strong lads.

I wish their damn video feed had replays. I missed the 1st PK foul and couldn't tell on the second one. Did they look legit to everyone else?

    No. Neither one did.

I think the second was a makeup call.

The Tampa fans on the chat were losing their caca. It was a bit over the top.

I thought it was good that Steele didn't get cautioned or expelled (remarkable, really). Didn't see why Low got a yellow.

    What's up with Campos?

I'm glad they were as passionate about it as if they'd been able to be at the stadium in person.

And frankly if I watched my team fall behind to a call as bogus as, well, either of those PKs, I'd be pretty upset too. That ref was terrible. Not in their favor, nor in ours, but terrible all around.

I guess I'll chime in here again. :p

RIGHT up until the ref made the call which would completely change the game, I thought things were about even. Both teams created chances and I honestly thought it was headed for a tie, which would have been deserving. Also, too bad our freekick that hit the crossbar didn't find the back of the net in the first half. Just another shot off woodwork for us this season, no big deal.

But then shit hit the fan and it is unfortunate, really. The PK was bogus and then our PK was a clear makeup call (after watching the game again at home I thought Ambersley had an actual complaint for a PK just minutes before).

It looked like we dominated possession in the second half, but as usual we couldn't come up with anything special around your goal area. It's like no one in the midfield has any real ideas or creativity and it's frustrating because you can see some decent talent out there, but they lack spark.

You guys showed why you are the best in the league right now, but honestly I'm surprised we played you that well and on another day I think we'd have gotten a result. Which is quickly becoming the story of this season for us.

Regarding idiot players taunting fans, whatever. They did it after your bull crap penalty, came over and taunted the Mob. That's one thing, even though they did it way too long and the ref clearly could have cared less. Big deal, we give the other team shit and if they want to prove they know we are there by picking us out for their goal celebrations then so be it.

But after the game when the Railhawks players were walking off the field they started it again only this time they appeared to just be taunting random fans. So random fans naturally got angry and instead of just walking off the field (through the dugout to the locker rooms) the Railhawks players decided it was a better idea to hang around and engage the angry fans further. Then someone threw a cup filled with some ice and some sort of beverage at your guys. That probably wasn't the smartest thing to do.

In the end fans were separated from that particular area and the Railhawks players finally decided that they should in fact just walk away. Not really that big of a deal, but given how the season is going and how this particular game went it just wasn't the brightest of moves to pull that kind of crap on our field.

    I blame Steele :) and Obama :)

No really. I thought both PKs were soft. We missed Campos on the back post a lot. Knighton was the man.

Carolina players need to stop watching Gary Neville clips taunting scousers and stuff of that nature and do what they do best. Win games.
